Wait, this Slender Man has been around for 4 years and nobody on GRcade has reported him until now! :(

I think it is a cracking concept though. Whoever thought it up is a genius. I'm sure a movie about the slender man will get made someday.

I am starting to think that Marble Hornets could be a viral advertising campaign though. Very good one if it is.

It's not. It's an ARG, which shares certain similarities to a viral - the fundamental difference is that it doesn't actually advertise anything.

Either way, I love it!

Y'know the one where Alex loses it whilst directing, was the Slender Man in that clip at all?

After seeing the pic in the pics/gifs thread i looked into the Slender Man and am planning on using him as the antagonist in a pen-and-paper horror rpg campaign, it's all coming together nicely. I'm going to use the various shooped images as props for the players to find in the course of their "adventures", as well as the Marble Hornets videos themselves to create a modern horror scenario.

That was quite eerie in places, but the ending was rubbish.
When the slenderman was stood in the doorway, they should have put in more visual/ audio disruption.

As long as you're absolutely sure of that, then you'll be fine. You are sure, aren't you?

(The premise for my rpg is going to be a slightly alternate reality, where the original photo of him in the playground was "re-discovered" and posted on an "internet forum", and so as people become more aware of the Slender Man the more real and dangerous he becomes, with the Marble Hornets videos being introduced periodically as the work of the mysterious J, researching his friend's mysterious disappearance)

Der Ritter
A german woodcut from the 1540s. It has puzzled historians since it was discovered at Halstberg castle in 1883. The woodcut bears the distinct style of a known woodcut artist from that area, Hans Freckenberg. Although know for his realistic depiction of human anotomy in his works, something that was unusual for the woodcuts in the 16th century, this picture differs radically from the rest of Freckenbergs works. The character to the right bears little semblance to a human being, with skeletal physique and long limbs at odd angles. Many theories have been dicussed as to what Freckenberg wanted to symbolize with that character, some say its a personification of the religious wars that raged in Europe at the time, others say its a personification of the mysterious plague that have been believed to be the reason for the mysterious abandoning of the Halstberg castle and the nearby village in 1543.

Another woodcut dated to around the 1540's. Its the work of Hans Freckenberg who disappeared in 1543 in Halstedt. The entity to the right is very similar to the odd humanoid from Freckenbergs earlier woodcut; 'DER RITTER' since both share many of the same features such as unatural height and long limbs. One thing to point out is that much work went into the entity to the right, at the cost of the depiction of the people to the left and middle in the woodcut wich is very crude, something that is quite unusual for Freckenberg who was best know for his lifelike depictions of humans in his earlier works. The reason for this sudden change of priorites in Freckenberg's style are still a topic of hot debate.

I'm pretty sure the Slenderman itself is based upon some real folklore tale - not just made up as said on the forum, the ideas came from somewhere originally like that I believe. But it is a freaky conception, and a novel way of photoshopping.

For some reason most of the photos on that other forum have the Slenderman with these huge tentacles, which to me is far less scary than him just having freakishly long arms and legs.

This. He kinda reminds me of the preacher in Poltergeist 2 and the 'Tall Man' in Phantasm....

I also agree. However, I kind of like a mix of the two concepts where he appears as a elongated man as he stalks, and only reveals the tentacles as he kills.

The whole thing just seems pretty lame. Not at all frightening or even remotely competent. Just seems to be another Blair Witch knockoff.
