I bloody love this game

I swear I've put more hours into this, Zelda and Splatoon 2 than I did my entire Wii U library. There is just something so tactile and right about the way the hardware and software compliment each other

Every time I wake up my Switch, I'm still surprised that I can resume the game that I was playing at the very point that I stopped playing. The wake up speed is very fast so the whole thing makes gaming much more accessible for today's busy rooftop partygoer :shifty:

I didn't realise there were exploration elements to this until watching Dragon's stream, how indepth are these parts?

Not much (so far)

All of world one done - perfect.

if it keeps up this level of charm and escalation of difficulty/environment it'll be great.

Took s little while to ramp up - but there's difficulty to each encounter (think the Mid boss was hardest) especially if trying to perfect

No particularly, most of it is just "find the hidden chest" but there are some puzzles that occasionally go more in depth. You've got the usual block pushing (and sliding on ice), switches moving platforms, lasers bouncing off mirrors, mazes. There are also quite a few red coin collecting parts where you have to grab all 8 in the time limit (full on mario style), and there are "computerised" challenge rooms where you have to collect blue coins in a time limit in different puzzle setups.

After completing a world you can go back to it to play extra challenges, and each world has a secret area to find on going back. You also gain new abilities metroidvania style so you can reach areas you couldn't get to previously.

Have to say I am quite interested in this. At first it seems like quite an odd combination but it looks fun.

It has come as a bit of a surprise, Drum. I had always been turned off by the Rabbids and I was unsure about Ubi using Nintendo characters... but the Rabbids' antics are quite funny and the game has a lot of detail and polish. It looks lovely on the Switch's crisp screen.

The rabbids come off way better in this than I have seen them before. They're subdued/diluted by being in a Mario crossover and it works.

I'm suspended on the first turn of the final boss because work at the moment, can't wait for the day to end already. Some of the battles leading up to it were brilliant. I was surprised at and loved the appearance of Bwario and Bwaluigi

Anyone having issues using joycons with this?

The 100% hit rate and massive amount of movement makes this surprisingly different to Xcom

I've only just realised Luigis special is a reference to his mariokart meme. Fand made this.

I hope it gets delivered today from Amazon. Despatched yesterday via royal mail with tracking but the tracking hasn't updated at all since it was sent and still down as tomorrow for delivery.

In my experience as a non-Prime customer* of Amazon, they are deliberately slow at dispatching items albeit they do deliver to their predicted arrival date. It probably won't be posted until today and it should arrive tomorrow, Kj.

The season pass is available in the eShop for £15.99. It includes some "steampunk" weapons to use now, some "pixel" weapons to download on 4 October and "2 DLC packs" that are TBC.

Oh, and I've spotted that the game product description describes the game's stages as "iconic". Dat Ubi marketing :datass: ...

I hope the final boss isn't the actual final boss so I have a chance to update the game to see this. Otherwise I think I'd have to play through the entire world again?

Few hours in and this is really great. There's been a nice learning curve to the battles. Haven't had too much trouble yet but had to restart one world as realised my approach was entirely wrong and how important movement was.

Also, I've never really paid much attention to the Rabbids but I know they get a lot of hate as "the minions of video games" but in this context, Ubisoft have created a game world where they work well with Mario. And they've made me laugh a few times already.

I had totally ignored this game since it was announced, because everything about its style made me want to vomit. But it seems I've overlooked a bit of a gem. I'll be paying more attention now, and will almost certainly pick it up at some point.
