Watch that video again, and pay attention at 0:13.

Blue shell clearly flies over other racers then circles the person in first (who is not in the air) getting ready to do the explode action.

Didn't notice that one. Meh, blue shells don't bother me. I deal with being hit with items and win anyway.

Just checking out this trailer form the first page, go to 1:58 of that video :fp: Even if you are in last place, you don't need THAT many items to catch up, ridiculous

You can't use them on yourself and if you throw them out you have chance of giving people a star, same goes for bumping into them, which will strawberry float you more than it will help you.

Looks really good but I might wait until it is cheaper. I prefer playing racing games on the big screen.

...am I the only person in existence who has loved every single Mario Kart?... :shifty:

I mean of course I like some more than others (and the original is still my favourite) but it seems like every fan has at least one game in the series they utterly loathe...it's bizarre!

I like them all, it's just disappointing seeing the series move further away from the iterations I loved the most

I like them all to a certain degree apart from Mario Kart Wii.

But then again I never really gave that one much time to try and win me over.

There's pretty much everyone there I like minus Dry Bones who I hope will be an unlockable. <3

It's just the fact there's characters like Queen Bee and Metal Mario, which I think is a waste of a character, which could've taken up by Waluigi and Dry Bones.

That's obviously not all the characters. They never announce the unlockables before release.

I'll probably be using Lakitu though.

I've enjoyed pretty much every Mario Kart, but they (or perhaps more accurately, the home console iterations) have definitely accrued more and more obvious flaws as they've progressed. I thought MK Wii was alright, but I can't see anyone picking it as their favourite, unless the online modes absolutely blew them away.

They've piled on more and more gimmicks onto the tracks, they've messed about with the karts (big wheels in MK7... why?) when really character selection should determine those kind of stats and added more items to an already-large and unbalanced roster.

I've actually preferred the handheld versions to the GC and Wii Mario Karts. Super Circuit was great - and as close to the SNES original as its ever been - and MKDS actually managed to weigh up the items/gimmicky tracks/racing ratio up to an excellent degree.

This though... hhhmmm.

NGamer said that they've already pencilled in the "90" part of their percentage score, but I find it really hard to trust them on MK, as they go overboard marking pretty much every installment.

Why does anyone like Waluigi? I'd really love to know the reasons, because as a character, he's absolutely terrible. One of the worst and most unimaginative character designs Nintendo have ever created. Created simply so that Wario could have a doubles partner in Mario Tennis, I believe.

I think it's just cause Waluigi has been in most of the spin of Mario games, since he was introduced.
And he's like a nice pair of comfy slippers.

Any word yet on the battle mode? It's not that team based shite from Mario Kart Wii is it? Is it online?

Let me go and check and see what the Japan site says (since that seems to be updated a lot)

EDIT: If you have 1 game cart you can play up to 8 players I think. But they can't choose their character.
Doesn't say anything about battle, but from the screenshots it doesn't look like teams.

Cheers. Really hoping for a proper online battle mode this time...
