It's a battle mode stage, but I agree.

If this has no new tracks, as implied by the information released by Nintendo then that's shocking. They shouldn't be charging full price for this.

Don't they have a dedicated Mario Kart team? What have they been doing since MK8 was released other than the DLC? A MK9 can't be near release as they wouldn't be porting 8

I agree, the majority of people buying the switch in the first year will be wii u owners who probably have MK8.

And the battle mode looks great and all but that should have been in the original Wii U version as standard

They're probably working on Mario Kart 9. This is no different to say a definitive edition that releases at full price on everything else pretty much.

Except it's a pretty major release for Switch given how barren the first few months look so they should be doing a lot more to get Wii U owners to buy the same game.

8 new tracks and 8 retro tracks in there too and people would be all over it.

This is no different from almost every definitive game release - compared to many it's a lot better. I mean how many people complaining bought Skyrim special edition?

With battle mode (and battle mode arenas), new characters including Splatoon inklings, new items, all previous DLC included, and the whole thing being portable, I'm definitely buying it! Those last two points seem to be missed by people too.

Are the visuals improved?

If there are no new tracks I'm out. Just not interested in the same thing again.

Ah well, still won't be buying it if it only has a new battle mode.

I will say though now it has a decent battle mode, it must be as close to perfect as MK can get.

I don't know where they'll go with the next one.

Question: If Mario Kart 8 had been ported to the 3DS with the same content as this Switch port, would people have bought it?
