Anyone going to be on this evening? I'll be playing in Handheld mode to avoid turning my TV on though. :slol:

Yeah it's not great. Is a shame as the first few weeks were good fun.

Hopefully when people move over to switch it will pick up and it won't have been a waste of money.

I only really got it as I had enjoyed taking part in mario kart mondays on wii u.

It is a shame, guys - I've hardly played my Switch version, either. Personally, I feel it was a bit odd to set the session in the same one-hour slot that the Wii U version has been running in for three years. Sure, people can choose which one to play... but why divide the audience? Especially as - and I'm not looking to put anyone down by saying this - the folk who are likely to play regularly are those who play the Wii U version.

I've said it before - I'd love to play both! In time I can see the Switch version becoming the main one... but I'm loathe to turn away from those folk who play regularly and only have the U version at the moment. If the Switch version were set to run at any other time I'd try and join in, but I'm probably not going to do so when it is set to run at the same time.

Er, in which case why not just continue playing Mario Kart Mondays on Wii U...could have saved yourself £300! :toot: :fp:

C'mon, chaps, let's not start digging at each other. We just want to Kart on both systems!

Here's an idea: we could leave the U session in diary for 21:00 (UK) each Monday, but also have a Switch session at 21:00 (UK) each Wednesday (i.e. the second most popular day when the Kart vote was undertaken)?

If there are going to be a few players who are keen to join in with this, I'll set up the tournament.

I was a bit put off by all the drama about when & who is allowed to play to be honest.

Was Wednesday's always a kart day before ? So that works well as it receives an old kart day and keeps the two alive for those that want to play.

Hopefully this trend isn't a worldwide thing as I can see Nintendo thinking "hmmm people are playing the U version, what if we shut online for that one, then they will play the switch"

No more drama! We really can get back to just being frustrated and annoyed by the Kart racing! I'm aiming that we'll have the two sessions setup for next week and so we'll all be able to join in anytime* with anyone**! :toot: .

* 2100 on Mondays and Wednesdays
** Providing you have the appropriate console

Wednesday was Splatoons day. Friday was the other Kart day but that day would get about 4 racers.I think Wednesday will likely be Splatoon 2 day. Not sure I'll be taking part in a Wednesday session unless my kid dear idea on doing kickboxing on Friday only.

See, the thing is the people that have moved from the Wii U to the Switch are just continuing to play on the same day, I don't get why they should need to swap anyway. It's something they've done for 3 years themselves.

I'm not suggesting that folk should have to move day, Pedz - it's just that, at the moment, we have two groups of people who want to play Kart and it'd be cool if the timings allowed for some crossover. I - and maybe a few other folk - are willing to play in both to help boost numbers... but we can't if they're set to run at the same time.

Game update version 1.2.0 has been released and the changes are:

> Players can use Pikmin-themed amiibo to unlock a Pikmin Suit for the Mii driver.

> Race rules and course name are now displayed on loading screens for online and wireless play, as well as Mario Kart TV.

> Players who are behind in online matches will receive items geared toward catching up more frequently.

> In online matches, no more than two Piranha Plants will be granted as items at the same time.

> Controls are no longer unresponsive when the timer runs out when choosing a Mii racing suit for online matches.

> When a player uses an item right after the Super Horn in online matches, that item will now remain available for other players.

> Item wheel no longer spins continuously in online matches.

> Online matches now end as intended 30 seconds after the first place racer finishes.

> The Boomerang now returns to the first slot, if possible, after a player catches it.

> Items shown in a player’s item slots now display correctly when holding an item behind them.

> No longer possible to use an item after it has been used to block an attack.

> Communication errors no longer occur frequently while spectating or after spectating online matches.

I've been banging on about the course name not showing in Online for ages, so it's good to see that fixed!

The one thing I'd still like to see resolved is the current league table for Online tournaments:

Yep, this is definitely the case. Last night I played a tournament on the Switch version followed immediately by the GRcade Mario Kart Monday tournament on the U version, and the Switch version has lost the "overall current ranking" chart after each race. It seems like a odd omission... I wonder why Nintendo has changed it?

These should have been sorted in the Wii-U version. Two big reasons why I gave up on MK.

Yeah, I don't really mind the idea that folk towards the back of the field may get slightly better power-ups. It's tough battling through when you're 10th to 12th!

Personally, I don't recall having the item wheel spin continuously... but, if so, could you not press L1 to halt it?

See, that was the problem. It wouldn't stop rolling at times whatever you pressed. I'm guessing not everyone had this issue and the item distribution was utter shithouse. Fall to the back the race, have a mushroom!

There is a certain element of luck in Mario Kart... and it can be frustrating when it doesn't quite go your way. But, over time, skill wins through. Players like Matt, Dragon, Jazzem and Spindash know the game inside out and so, even if bad luck strikes them, over the course of a tournament they'll have the skills and knowledge to battle through and win.

Less skilled Karters such as myself have to fight for the scraps and, very occasionally, find that luck goes our way and roar to victory :toot: . Even when we don't do that well, our experience will be improving race-by-race as we learn new techniques.
