DLC revealed on Nintendo store, 16 new courses and 6 new characters, including Link as a playable character:

Thought MK would become Super Smash Karts sooner or later, assumed it would be sooner but I guess this is what happens when Nintendo are backed into a corner

Not particularly bothered if the AI is on or off, but turning the difficulty down seems like a pointless compromise.

Mario Kart 8 is undergoing maintenance until 10am, but the patch and Mercedes DLC are out. There's a thread on NeoGAF.

It also seems that you can buy both DLC packs for £11 and you'll immediately get the multicoloured Yoshis and Shy Guys.
