Good racing guys, think I just need oto get used to the tracks and objects that can trick me up.

I spotted a few of you drifting, how are you meant to brake on this? Is it about your driving or more about item collection and using them at the right time?

If you need to brake on 150cc you have started to drift too late. Didn't touch the brake once this evening.

Best to start with a light character to get used to the dynamics. Not as fast as the heavies but alot more forgiving.

You will learn yourself when to use items, if you have a banana or shell up front best use it as a blocker rather than randomly getting rid.

...I ran outta time to post the results last night (thanks to some of us staying on for a quick* game or two of Rocket League after the karting) but they’re here now!

* About two-and-a-half hours :shifty: ... you guys are bad influences :toot: .

Was Jazzem using Donkey Kong?

I swear I only ever saw that character at the starting grid :fp:

Jazzem is a beast of a karter... even when you can (occasionally) get near to him with a shell at the ready, he has defences and recovery plans prepared. The Watching Artist and Jazzem both have Kart technology melded to their bodies.

Never thought about defence, I've noticed when I bump into people I react differently depending on what they're carrying.

I just couldn't get going last night  think my best finish was 5th on one of the tracks.

Will try to get on again next week :toot:

Keep your spirits high, dudes - it takes time* to get to grips with the variety of tracks and the sheer evil-ness of your fellow GRcadian karters. I spent about a year being last nearly every race before things started to click...

* Apart from PPM / PMM / Jack who acclimatised surprisingly quickly :o . I suspect you may well have played Kart for many hours outside of this tournament, PPM?

I've been playing Mario Kart since the 64 era. I truly know how to be a bastard

He is good.

The key is to stop him pulling away right at the beginning. Keep him pegged back in the pack for the first half lap, and he might get caught up in the chaos...but let him get away at the start, and it's race over, especially as all the other Karters focus on taking each other out.

I had a great battle with him on the last Rainbow Road, which I won (just)!

Yeah, it sure is rough if you're caught up in the midst of battle towards the back end of the grid, Andy; it's hard to break out of it! You had some good racing last night - it felt liked you'd stepped up a gear after a frustrating session last time out.

Thanks Jawa. Yes, last week was horrendous as I really wasn't feeling well. It had been a tough day at work, and I could barely concentrate!

I was more back to my old self last night...I even had 3 cheeky wins :)

It was a really fun session. I did have some nightmares, but it didn't get to me as much as it did last week when I uncharacteritically quit half way :(

Anyway, looking forward to more epic racing next week :)

Yeah, I played quite a lot on the Wii U and joined in Mario Kart Monday’s a few times.

I can also confirm Jazzem is a machine. As soon as I got in front of him he was right behind me (and then back in front).

With so many new and returning faces at the Monday night session, this feels like the start of a new era for GRcadian karting. Long live Kart :toot: .

Ahah thanks for the kind words folks, as Andy says the game's very conducive to a player with a lead given how many items can't be directed at them. That's certainly how Matt often got ahead on Wii U

Is interesting w/Deluxe too , given that every player has better offensive options w/two items but obviously that works the other way for defence too.

I'm getting MK for Xmas, so hoping this tradition will continue long into the New Year. Is there a limit to tournament numbers?
