Edit: and yeah, that stunt stuff is wild. I had an inkling that the side tricks were affecting my turns but I put it down to me mistiming inputs. Since then I've only been doing front and back flips which I found didn't affect my turns at all. Will experiment with this tomorrow!

It's an interesting strat that speedrunners definitely take advantage of, but unless you know of it it's something you wouldn't notice. I'll have to look at those time trial ghosts I have saved to see it in action again.
