Will be picking this up. Haven't played the original since the GBA and this looks beautiful.

Couldn’t they have just released the GBA game on NSO?

Didn't think I'd be in for this having never played the series before, but the trailer sold me.

A lot of people won't play it that way due to the graphics and getting remakes of like a 20ish year old game is hardly a bad thing. Introduces more people to the series too.

Very pleased to see this on the Direct, a definite highlight of the show for me!

Shame we've got quite a long wait, would have been a great Christmas game, but appreciate they want some space between it and Wonder

Wait it's a remake? I assumed it was a new Mario Vs DK game.

Yeah that's the part that tipped me off. Makes no difference to me as I've not played the original either. I just thought it was a brand new game.

Would it really have been much more hassle to make a set of new levels?

Why do that when you can reheat a pre-existing game though.

This will be a definite buy for me. I've not played the GBA game but always liked the look of it - DK94 is one of my favourite Game Boy games.

It's being made by NST who are quite a small studio these days and used more as a support studio/for ports. They are also behind F-Zero 99, so they seem to be on the up at the moment. If this does well, I would not be surprised to see a full blown sequel made on Switch 2.

Between this and the reply to my F-Zero 99 post you're being very informative this morning.

I guess I just feel a bit fatigued with all the remasters and HD things Nintendo are putting out at the moment.
I know why they do it, people are asking for them and they presumably sell well enough. It was just a bit of an "oh it's another remaster" when I realised.

Can you tell I'm bored in work :slol:

Yes, I think it's pretty clear at this stage that most of Nintendo's big teams are on working on Switch 2. 2023 has had some big releases from their internal teams (TOTK, Pikmin 4 and Mario Wonder) but 2024 is very much going to be a shift of focus to Switch 2 with ports/remakes to carry them through until then.

That would explain it I guess. Busy work for the smaller teams to keep the system stocked while the bigger teams polish off and finish their Switch games, or concentrate on the next system.
