I'm enjoying this game pretty much exactly how much I was expecting to. So can't complain. Or can I? Yes.....yes I can!

Nah, nothing amazing but pretty fun. Proper handheld game. I like it!

I don't really understand this game. Do the puzzle elements get significantly more challenging? Because right now it feels like a cross between Super Mario Bros 2 and Donkey Kong without the difficulty of either.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I'm on World 5 (spooky), to answer your question; No, not yet anyway.

How far in are you?

Yeah it's very basic so far. I'm at the end of World 3, and I'm enjoying it, but I was hoping the levels get a touch more complex as the game goes on.

Most of the levels so far I would hesitate to describe as puzzles - it's just basic platforming. I'm enjoying playing them, it's a nice change of pace after getting 100+ deaths on the final level of Mario Wonder last week, but it might be a bit too simple. I've died a couple of times through carelessness and me trying to move Mario faster than you really can in this game. The only levels with a light puzzle element so far have been the end of world ones where you use the mini Marios to collect the TOY letters

Haven't looked into it deeply but according to Google, there's 8 worlds but 130 levels and so far each world had 8 stages so you'd think there would be 64 I wonder if they are pulling a Mario 3D Land. Easy pre-credits then more challenging post-credits or maybe hidden challenging levels

Edit. Also the challenge is we have to beat this game before Kaz beats the GBA one. The GBA one has less levels and he's had like a 20 year head start but I think we can do it :datass:

Admittedly not very far, only to the end of W2.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

All pre-credit stuff complete (yes already  ). Time to see if they have been saving all the trickier stuff post credits....

I've stopped playing this, it's just so dull.

It's not great - but I quite like it; though I am quite easily please - my favourite game of all time is Tetris.

It's very simple gameplay and now the Switch is Nintendo sole console hosting both 'AAA' type game and supposedly traditional handheld games I'd encourage proper portable games like this existence. There is A LOT of content in this game and unfortunately the best of this game is post-credits.

Pre-credits, just to confirm it didn't really get much more challenging as you progressed. If you really didn't like the gameplay pre-credits, it might not be worth playing until the end (and it's annoying having to play through the main game to get to the better stuff!).

But I'm having a good time on the post-credit stuff. It basically gives you;
(1) The same levels again but recontextualised where you have to guide / protect a mini-mario through. This introduces a little strategy and puzzle solving
(2) Time trials - fun and introduces some challenge
(3) 16 Expert levels - by far the games best levels - quite clever design, a little harder

I've only done the first few worlds Barnsy, but I agree that it's too easy/simple.

It's quite relaxing to play though if you don't want anything too taxing!
