Disney must be approaching a monopoly at this point.

I just read in 2016, Disney and Fox accounted for 40% of US Film Studio revenue. A particularly successful year and they could have half the US market. You would have thought it'll get looked at, at the very least.

I think Fox are retaining all the sports and news stuff, but even so it’s a big merger. When you think of all the stuff Disney have added to their portfolio in recent years on top of what hey already had... The Muppets/muppet work shop, Star Wars/Lucas film, Marvel.

Getting Star Wars New Hope, Simpsons and Family Guy along with Fantastic 4 and X-Men will really help their video streaming project.

Really hoping for a new X-Men cartoon series :shifty:

Apparently it’ll be confirmed by Thursday

I mean I want Mads Mikkelsen to play Doom as much as anyone but yeah Disney's growing monopoly isn't a good thing long term.

It can't and won't continue for much longer you'd think - US anti-monopoly laws will come into force if they keep this going.

Although Trump loves big business so who strawberry floating knows.

Jackman has said no to playing Wolverine again, but I wonder if he'll say no to the massive bag of cash that Disney will undoubtedly throw at him to do some slashing and growling over the next couple of years. Same to Patrick Stewart.

It's official - X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool are coming home:
The Walt Disney Company to Acquire Twenty-First Century Fox, Inc., after Spinoff of Certain Businesses, for $52.4 Billion in Stock

Combining with Disney are 21st Century Fox’s critically acclaimed film production businesses, including Twentieth Century Fox, Fox Searchlight Pictures and Fox 2000, which together offer diverse and compelling storytelling businesses and are the homes of Avatar, X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool, as well as The Grand Budapest Hotel, Hidden Figures, Gone Girl, The Shape of Water and The Martian—and its storied television creative units, Twentieth Century Fox Television, FX Productions and Fox21, which have brought The Americans, This Is Us, Modern Family, The Simpsons and so many more hit TV series to viewers across the globe. Disney will also acquire FX Networks, National Geographic Partners, Fox Sports Regional Networks, Fox Networks Group International, Star India and Fox’s interests in Hulu, Sky plc, Tata Sky and Endemol Shine Group.

The agreement also provides Disney with the opportunity to reunite the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool with the Marvel family under one roof and create richer, more complex worlds of inter-related characters and stories that audiences have shown they love.

Jackman will be over 50 by the time Phase 4 starts. They may want someone younger if they're planning for the next 10 years.

There's a lot of X-Men stuff in the works at the moment, interesting to see how they handle everything.

Hugh Jackman can just jump on the steroids again to look the part for a Deadpool Wolverine buddy movie. Then retires as Wolverine for a younger actor which Deadpool can then reference.

Are Fantastic 4 confirmed? The rights are owned by some German company I think which aren't part of Fox who I think just distributed those movies.

Sweet, I didn't see it there at first. They will probably be more important to the MCU with the whole space stuff theme going forward, and I'm actually excited for a decent F4 movie too, hopefully they commit to one.

I hope they get the FF to strawberry float and cherry pick the best characters from the supporting cast to strategically insert into the MCU. I find the fantastic four very archaic in terms of their relevance to modern society.

I would think they will start by bringing in certain characters like Silver Surfer/Galactus first off. I really want to see more period pieces (we've only had a single Captain America movie and a few short scenes in Ant-Man/Iron Man's) and an F4 movie would really work in that mould I think.

Make it an intentionally anachronistic film set in the 1960s and I'm in.
