Completely changing Norse mythology is annoying, yes.

Wait, you think the Marvel movies are a completely accurate representation of Norse mythology except for the handful of black characters?

Nope. Let me guess, it wouldnt be stupid if they made Thor black? It changes their whole background/origin is what I'm getting at.

Anyway, these argument are always daft because it will always happen to be potically correct.

What's daft is getting annoyed by changes to a fictional character that inhabits a fictional universe that is very very loosely based on a myth. Asgardians are not supposed to be Norse people, but aliens that humans mistook for gods. It is therefore completely believable (as believable as a comic book movie can be) that the people of Asgard will be racially diverse and not just a bunch of white people.

Plus, y'know, Heimdall.

Perhaps in Ragnarok Valkyrie is related to Heimdall in some way?

Rumoured Black Panther character call list (courtesy of Screen Rant)

Ulysses Klaw and Everett Ross confirmed, plus...

Okoye
A member of the Dora Milaje, a specially chosen order of Wakandan women originally conceived as wives-in-training for the King but revived and retooled into an elite order of bodyguards by T’Challa. Okoye is usually depicted as among the most loyal of the order, even communicating with the Black Panther in an obscure African dialect only the two of them speak fluently.

MONICA LYNNE
T’Challa’s longest-running romantic interest, originally introduced as an American singer whom T’Challa encountered during his semi-regular excursions to the United States while a part-time member of The Avengers.

N’GASSI
An elderly Wakandan man who traditionally serves as the Black Panther’s chief political adviser and even rules in his stead as acting regent when T’Challa himself is not in the country.

REVEREND ACHEBE
A bizarre character whose inclusion in the film (unless heavily revised) would likely come as a surprise to even die-hard Black Panther fans. In the comics, Achebe is a poor farmer from a war-stricken region of Africa who sells his soul to Mephisto (read: the Devil) in order to be reborn after being viciously beaten and left for dead by government soldiers. Reborn as a trickster and schemer (at one point attempting to seize control of Wakanda) he is also mentally unstable and keeps “counsel” with his friend Daki — a hand puppet he speaks to as if it were alive.

W’KABI
T’Challa’s military second-in-command.

ZURI
A Wakandan soldier of particularly imposing size and strength.

ERIK KILLMONGER
One of Black Panther’s main recurring nemesis. The son of a Wakandan traitor exiled for giving aid to Klaw, Killmonger moves to the United States and studies combat and technology in order to exact revenge on T’Challa, effectively remaking himself into a kind of evil equivalent to the Panther in terms of skill and abilities. The casting sheet also lists a part for “Malice,” a female villain mutated into a servant of Killmonger, who is often allied with a female love interest of his own, “Madam Slay,” who has the power to control leopards.

WHITE WOLF
T’Challa’s adopted older brother Hunter, a White orphan who survived a plane crash in Wakanda and was taken in by King T’Chaka before his biological son was conceived. A fierce patriot of his adopted homeland (despite being distrusted by many because of his ever-visible “otherness”), he becomes head of Wakanda’s secret police but is banished by his brother for using banned torture techniques on prisoners. He takes up the “White Wolf” persona in order to get back at his brother, whom he resents for taking a throne that otherwise might have been his.

QUEEN DIVINE JUSTICE
A street-tough young woman (real name Chante Giovanni Brown) discovered at one point to be the rightful heir to the Jibari Tribe, a seperatist group living within Wakanda.

THE MAN-APE
Often thought of as Black Panther’s key enemy outside of Klaw, The Man-Ape (real name: M’Baku) is the self-appointed ruler of Wakanda’s separatist Jibari Tribe, which disdains technology and follows the religion of the White Gorilla Cult, a rival sect opposing that of the Black Panther faith. As The Man-Ape, M’Baku dons a strength-enhancing suit partially built from the hide of a white gorilla, and has served as a member of villain teams such as The Lethal Legion. The character has seen much less action in recent years, with many modern writers shying away from using him due to the potentially insensitive connotations of his name and gimmick.

‘Legion’: FX Picks Up Marvel’s X-Men Pilot Starring Dan Stevens To Series

FX Networks has given an eight-episode order to Legion, its X-Men-themed pilot starring Downton Abbey‘s Dan Stevens. This marks the first live-action cable Marvel series, joining ABC’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Netflix package of four series.

The project, from Fargo‘s Noah Hawley and the X-Men team of Lauren Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg, tells the story of a troubled young man. Stevens stars alongside Fargo‘s Rachel Keller and Jean Smart as well as Aubrey Plaza, Jeremie Harris, Amber Midthunder, Katie Aselton and Bill Irwin. Production on the first season of the series, from FX Productions and Marvel Television, will begin this summer in Vancouver for an early 2017 premiere on FX.

“We’ve come to expect excellence from Noah Hawley and with Legion he has delivered another major creative achievement,” said FX’s Nick Grad. “Just as he did in reimagining Fargo, he is bringing an entirely new aesthetic and sensibility to the enormously popular and richly represented X-Men world. The pilot episode is stunning, driven by incredible performances from Dan Stevens, Aubrey Plaza, Jean Smart, Rachel Keller and the rest of the cast.”

Legion introduces the story of David Haller: Since he was a teenager, David has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.

Hawley will serve as an executive producer along with Shuler Donner, Singer, Kinberg, Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s Jessica Jones), Jim Chory (Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s Jessica Jones) and John Cameron (Fargo).

Legion will be produced by FX Productions and Marvel Television, with FXP handling the physical production.

PostRe: Marvel Cinematic Universe - Brie Larson up for Captain Marvel (P169)

Good choice (more suitable than Emily Blunt I think).

Possible plot details for Thor: Ragnarok:

Since our initial report of Ruffalo appearing as Hulk in the film we’ve heard rumors of how the story will play out and just how “Planet Hulk” the film will be. Well, here’s what we know: The film will definitely have the Planet Hulk element in it, operating as a kind of mash-up with the Ragnarok story. How Thor ends up on the planet in question is unclear, but he will definitely be involved in some gladiatorial games run by none other than Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster. In terms of Hulk’s appearance in this portion of the film, he will be rocking the one-shoulder armor as seen in the comics, so expect him to be decked out in the familiar Planet Hulk look.

And speaking of appearances, expect a major change in the look of The God of Thunder himself for this part of the film as he will be sporting a shaved head (but not completely bald) for at least a portion of the film. Also, expect a very different look for Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, who is traditionally a blonde-haired warrior type in the comics. For RAGNAROK she’ll be wearing war paint on her face, much like a Native American warrior, which should be an interesting take on this variation of the character.

In terms of story, there’s still much in the air, but the gist of Thor’s mission in the film is that he needs to find the ultimate weapon to stop Ragnarok and reset the universe. What is that weapon and how does he gets set on that path? Your guess is as good as ours, but the whole thing just sounds like a big ball of awesome already, so we’re on board with whatever direction they go.

And possible villain for Guardians of the Galaxy 2:

The villain is none other than Ayesha aka Her aka Kismet aka Paragon. Yes, she’s gone by many names and had quite a few forms in the comics, but almost always as a blonde goddess-like being. Comic Book Movie broke this back in March, so credit where it’s due, but we can confirm from our own independent sources that the villain in the film is, in fact, Ayesha.

Now, the significance of Ayesha in GUARDIANS 2 and the greater MCU is rather huge, especially when you consider that she was created by The Enclave, a group of scientists dedicated to taking control of the world, starting with the creation of the perfect genetic beings, made to restart humanity. Their first version of this, called HIM, would later evolve into the character known as Adam Warlock, who escaped The Enclave. However, The Enclave made a second being, which became HER aka Ayesha, who also escapes and goes looking for HIM, who she considers to be her perfect mate to start a new perfect race.

I'm still unsure if Cumberbatch is trying to do an American accent.

Jordan will be playing T’Challa’s archenemesis Erik Killmonger, the genius insurgent who’s destabilized Wakanda multiple times in the comics. Nyong’o will be playing the role of Nakia, a member of of the Dora Milaje, Wakanda’s all-female honor guard. Danai Gurira—who plays Michonne on The Walking Dead tv show—will be embodying the character of Okoye, described as the leader of the Dora Milaje.

Wasting Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia. :dread: Black Panther movie seems to be taking a lot from Priest's run which is a definite positive.

Indeed. I need to re-read that run actually.

But I'm looking forward to this. Is Nakia the one who
betrays him? It's been ages since I read it.

Marvel’s next “Avengers” adventure — titled “Infinity War” — might no longer be told two in two parts, as it was previously announced to be.

A schedule change from Disney late Friday said that the second film in the planned two-parter would no longer be called “Avengers: Infinity War Part II.” Instead, that project has been renamed as an “Untitled Avengers” film.

The studio will release the first part “Avengers: Infinity War” — no longer with “Part 1” in its title — as planned on May 4, 2018. The second film, now called “Avengers Untitled,” will hit as planned on May 3, 2019.
