The comic-con had everyone cheering every 3 seconds though, helps with hype.

I would say this trailer is a bit... underwhelming? Especially for a general audience who only know Thanos from the random teases - just looks like another 'avengers villain of the week' with not much story to go on.

I really hope that someone big (not Quicksilver level, like, Iron Man level) gets killed off at the end of the first part... Probably won't be but they'll need some massive moment to really hit home with it...

Yeh sorry I meant more that they should have put that comic con cut out (but with the updated visual effects) and minus the hollering and whooping. I felt the same with Age of Ultron, it felt a bit meh to me, I think I just prefer the smaller scale stories. Agent's of SHIELD is probably my favourite Marvel thing right now, so that shows a lot about my taste :slol:

:P I think the second film will feature.......

Spoilers for part 1 and 2

They've already put out a casting call for two baby twins for the next film. So vision is killed in part 1 , Witch goes mad, has a House of M moment and re makes the world with her twins and with a world without thanos/infinity stones. So they can re cast iron Man, young cap etc. Allowing Thor to be lady Thor and more changes to occur in one big swoop.

Trailer was good but not as good as the leaked one. Needs more of Thanos and his crew. Hopefully Black Panther sets it all up well.

Wish my image sig would work

I've dipped my toes in most Marvel TV shows and havent really liked any of them. I watched JJ through to completion but outside of maybe the first few episodes it wasn't that good.

I've watched some of Runaways, kinda interesting but already has glaring contradictions with the established MCU (why bother saying theyre connected when they basically arent?).

I watched first few eps of Agents of Shield and thought it was average, though that still puts it above the other Marvel TV shows for me. I want to get into AoS, but theres like 24 episodes per season and I kinda got burnt out by episode 4/5 of Season 1. Some people say you can jump into later eps/seasons, and I'd like to watch it as long as it has interesting characters/plots - is there a point I should watch it where it gets definitively good? I worry I may lose track of the characters and their goals but after watching 1 or 2 episodes I have a feel for who the characters are. I know it gets darker/more serious and that might help me like it...? Also I like Clark Gregg and the dialogue, but it all feels kinda side-story-y.

Ach, I dont like the idea of re-casting characters like Thor. Even though we're god knows how many films into the MCU, they're so pretty different from each other it feels too early to kill of Thor/most of the main cast and replace them with alternate versions. If we had like 5/6 main Avengers die and be replaced with gay/black/female versions of themselves it sorta removes any character and arc building theyve had so far - Iron Man in particular. I get he's been in it alot, and his character arc has kinda turned him into sad mopey- man, so killing him off would feel like a big strawberry float you and 'kick you while youre down' to robert downy downer. I think it needs to be a smoother transition.

Compared with the comics theyve done so little with these characters, why not go the Thor Ragnarok-route and send RDJ across the galaxy into some random universe or whatever - have him out of his element. A good story line is him maybe waking up trapped in a cave in some far off galaxy, echoing IM1 when he got captured and put in cave by bin laden.

I suspect that a lot of characters will die, but the green infinity stone will allow them to go timey-wimey and bring a lot of them back.

Captain America's story and character arcs have been completed now though - from propagandist and patriot to untrusting insurgent - he may very well stay dead.

Yeah i wouldnt mind CA death out of everyone.

Honestly this is an opportunity for MArvel to go balls-to-the-wall crazy. Go back in time but wake up in an alternate past where the X-men are real, or a 'cheesy comic book' universe where everyone is like "ah thanos you were too tricky for youre own good".

I want them to go just crazy, have a film where Holland, Garfield and McGuire are all Spidermen at the same time.

If you only watched a few episodes of season 1 then it never got going by that point as they were still introducing characters. It got going during the Captain America Winter Soldier event which I think landed at about episode 16 of season 1.

If you want to try again but skip a huge chunk and maybe revisit older episodes another time if you do get in to it then start on Season 4 (last year). They split the show in to 3 mini seasons, each with a different storyline that flowed in to each other at the same time. It also got a later timeslot so it's even darker than some of the earlier seasons of the show. You'll miss some of the character growth as you're missing season 1 onwards, but you shouldn't find yourself wondering what the hell is going on either.

I think I'm the only one with a positive opinion of it however though.

Ya I thought the first episode was very good and promising, but it just seemed to be 'monster of the week' after that. So far we got:
British Dorky 'will they wont they' Scientists
Experienced Agent May - Coulsons right hand woman
Hacker Skye - new recruit, apparently a double agent for someone else spying on SHIELD? Peppy and eager.
Experienced white dude - pretty generic serious 'get the job done' dude, who I know is actually evil because spoilers.

That's what i figured the characters were after the first few episodes. I like big storylines that interweave over many episodes, good to hear they get to that. I dont wanna skip too much and I like the MCU references (cause it makes sense somewhat in this world). Maybe ill just slowly work my way through season 1, i think the last episode i remember had Coulson finding out their 'target' was his ex-lover or something and at that point i was like "im out".

The humour has that 'late buffy the vampire slayer'-vibes, which i thought was down to joss whedon but its apparently his brother that does the show?

Yeh it's his brother, I think Joss worked on the pilot and then went on to do Avengers 2.

Season 1 is very much monster of the week until the Captain America reveal, they were kind of stuck waiting for the SHIELD/Hydra stuff so they used those early episodes to character build which adds more weight to things that happen to characters at the end of that season and also future seasons. Unfortunately a lot of people, like yourself, tuned out before they were able to get to that point.

In hindsight they should have started the show a bit later so they could have had the twists work sooner, but then maybe in doing so it wouldn't have had the same impact if you'd spent less time with the characters. Season 1 and Season 4 tonally are very different.

In terms of shocking stuff happening (like character deaths etc.) haven't the Russo's pretty much gone on record to say that we will get something like that across the two upcoming Avengers movies?

With the number of contracts that are coming to an end, it's pretty much guaranteed many will die. They can probably kill off some of the characters you'd expect to survive too, then bring them back with some Time Stone stuff. I hope they don't do anything like that with too many characters though, it'd play too much into the criticism that superhero films kill characters off only to revive them immediately.

Re: Agents of SHIELD. It got off to a very slow star but the last season was pretty brilliant, and the first half of season two as well.

I think Captain America will die and the Bucky will take up the shield in his place.

I don't think they'll get involved in resurrecting characters though. That's a slippery slope once you start doing that. Will completely take away from the shock of anytime they kill a character as the reaction will be "oh they'll just bring them back eventually".

I know that super hero comics have the same hero but different people but do they actually have other hero's picking up the mantel like you're suggesting with Cap? Have I got that wrong and you mean Bucky will literally become Captain America?

Both Bucky and Falcon have been Captain America in the comics when Cap was missing presumed dead, actually dead, powerless or bored. Marvel have also replaced wolverine with x 23.

I'd not be hugly surprised if Peter Parker ended up in the iron man suit and a new spider Man took over the role.

Both Loki and Thor have been replaced/changed into women in the comics too.

Hulk is now not Bruce banner but someone else.

So the potential is there for a huge change around.

Wish my image sig would work
