Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D.

Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson’s team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) expert pilot and martial artist, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker); brilliant engineer and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet).

From Executive Producers Joss Whedon (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” ”Buffy the Vampire Slayer”); Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” pilot co-writers (“Dollhouse,” “Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”); Jeffrey Bell (“Angel,” “Alias”); and Jeph Loeb ( :x )(“Smallville”) comes Marvel’s first TV series. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.

First footage will be shown after the Once Upon A Time finale on Sunday in the US. Can't wait.

Wasn't Jeph Loeb responsible for Ultimates 3 and more or less going "Incest is ok in Marvel"?

Wedgie wrote:Coulson? How...?

Prequel. This is set before Avengers (and before the other films as well, except Captain America)

Still, looking forward to this. Wonder if any of the film characters/actors will make small cameo appearances here and there.

Nope it's post-Avengers.

In January 2013, ABC president Paul Lee said that the story takes place after the events of The Avengers.

And as bad as Ultimates 3 was, it didn't make "incest ok for marvel" :fp: :fp:

Takes place after Avengers? In which case...

And I suppose it was more "incest while your possible father watches from the bushes" that it went with rather than just incest :slol:

Because Coulson, that's how.

I don't think they're even trying for any explanation other than 'He didn't die, 'k?'. I seem to remember some mention of it being one reason why they cut the stabbing in the UK version of Avengers Assemble, to give some sort of doubt as to how serious the wound was. Which isn't really a reason at all.

Odd continuity aside (which is almost a given with Marvel stuff), I'm looking forward to seeing how this goes.

I think it will be a case of us not seeing him actually die.

It's ridiculous either way :dread:

edit: ninja'd twice :x

I love Agent Coulson enough that I'd be cool with them just going "he had a twin lol"

They might just say the one in the movie was a Life Model Decoy. They were mentioned briefly by Stark. They are used a lot in the comics, often as a cheap deus ex machina :fp:

Did anyone watch Item 47? It was the short film set after Avengers with Lizzie Caplam and some other guy playing a couple who found a Chitauri weapon after the battle in New York and go around robbing banks and stuff. SHIELD eventually catch them and employ them. I would have like to have seen them cast in this, but I guess there's still the possibility that they'll appear later.

I wouldn't be surprised if Titus Welliver turns up

In fact I'm surprised by what looks like a bunch of babies in this

Doesn't explain why all the avengers and Nick Fury sat there looking all morbid and sad.

THEN THEY EXPLODES AND THEY SET OUT TO KILL THEM ALL.

There's been a whole bunch of theories floating around. One is that seeing as Fury used Coulson's death to galvanise the Avengers, he may well have aranged to fake said death for the purpose. This could also tie into the LMD thing.

Sorry I meant the above people are for the pilot and then we will see some of the previous actors alongside them in the main series.

Given that it's Marvel they'll likely go with the "It wasn't Coulson" angle. Most likely a decoy, a robot, something like that.
It's DC that tends to go with actually killing people and then bringing them back to life.
With Marvel you more often tend to get "Oh it wasn't actually A, it was B. But then it turns out that B was actually being mind controlled by C, who it then turns out was working for D" than the characters actually dieing and coming back to life.

Thing is, this part of the description,
Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary.

really makes it sound like a prequel (even though I now know it isn't). By the time The Avengers comes around, superhumans aren't really anything new to them and seem to have been known about for a good while.
