I finished this last night.

What a show! Far more brutal than I was expecting and I mean that in a good way! A much different tone to the other MCU stuff, other than the odd reference it could easily have been a standalone series.

I am really looking forward to the other Netflix MCU shows now. :datass:

Finished it the other night too, bloody brilliant. Not a bad character among the cast and I only grew to love foggy more and more.

I really hope S2 retains the brilliant writing.

I wasn't impressed with him at first (I don't know the comics) but he grew into one of my favourite characters.

Just saw episode 7 - Stick.

What's the deal with Black Sky? Is that something from the comics?

After Age of Ultron the slower pacing of this is really nice.

I'm finding Foggy INCREDIBLY annoying as a hollow stereotypical character. Just finished the first Fisk episode...does he get better?

Yes. Although I never found him all that annoying anyway. He really comes into his own in the later episodes.

Honestly, I really thought Vincent D'Onofrio's Fisk really cemented the series for me. Far more so than DareDevil.

I can't tell if he's good or not. When he's talking to another person on the same room he looks really confused.

He has that perpetually confused expression throughout the series, it distracted me greatly.

Fisk

He looks angry because he doesn't understand what's happening not angry because he's the strawberry floating Kingpin and someone's daring to strawberry float with him.

Foggy is a fantastic bit of casting

I think it's actually intentional. It seems like they've made Fisk difficult to get a read on, so he can serve different roles at different times in the series. The character seems purpose built to contrast against Murdoch, and the end result is really interesting to watch. For example, it's neat that while Murdoch gains allies, Kingpin whittles his down as the series progresses.

They managed a really neat trick, by making him genuinely sympathetic at times, despite his unquestionable "villain" status, and at the same time without making him seem like less of a threat.

Episode 4 is the perfect example of his duality. Naive shy man-child one minute, brutal angry monster the next.

Agreed with this. Fisk was interesting, he is very similar to Daredevil in that they both want to improve the area and will fight to achieve their aims. The main difference being that Daredevil wants to improve the area for normal/poor people, Kingpin wants to bring in the rich.

Oh and of course the other difference is that Daredevil doesn't smash peoples skulls in car doors. ;)

Started watching this on Tuesday, up to episode 3 now which I really enjoyed. Such a brutal opening followed by a pretty gruesome ending! Looking forward to another couple of episodes tonight.

I knew nothing about Daredevil before watching this so I am going in fresh. The tone seems quite similar to the Nolan Batman films and of the marvel characters I am familiar with, this seems closest to Batman, just lighter on the misery!

Finished this yesterday. Cracking last episode. Rather enjoyed the series considering I'm not the biggest Marvel film fan (bar a few). Great characters, great fighting and well shot. Only mild complaint is that some of the conversations dragged a bit needlessly. Not to the point it ruined anything, but I felt it was bordering on "too long" at times without much being said.

Kingpin was great. A scary and interesting character. I actually liked the guy who played him. His mannerisms were strange and I couldn't tell if he was actually good...but it worked.
