Just finished it, overall I enjoyed it but it wasn't on the same level as series 1. It fell a little bit flat towards the end (though I think this is a common problem with the Marvel stuff being strung out too much for the 13 episode run), but I did really like that there wasn't a clear antagonist as such in the back half; it's a nice change from the usual superhero formula and it's not like anyone could have followed Kilgrave as a villain anyway.
I'm not too keen on how they've handled some of the supporting cast though. Jeryn's arc was fantastic, albeit a little disconnected from the main story, but they've ruined Trish. Her motives were janking back and forward far too much, most of her actions were just plain dumb and the teaser with her powers at the end sapped all the moral out of her arc of being self-destructively bent on being like Jessica. Malcolm fared better but I can't help but feel they mirrored Foggy's arc from DD2 fairly closely in that both of them fell out with the hero and went off to work for Jeryn. Plus I liked that he was this nice, dependable guy to act as a foil to Jessica's constant asshole, although I guess Oscar kind of pushed him out of that niche so they needed something different for him to do.
New ranking of the Netflix stuff then is JJ1>DD1>Punisher>JJ2>DD2=LC>Defenders>IF. Interested to see where Jessica goes next because they haven't really left much dangling plotwise. I'd be fairly happy with this as an end point rather than risk a third season running it into the ground, although I guess there's always room for a story with her and Luke getting back together.
Just as a thought, maybe they could merge Jess and Luke for a Heroes for Hire show? They seem to be teasing it in the latest Luke Cage trailer, so maybe that's where she could head next seeing as her own stuff is pretty much done.
About 3 episodes in and not really keen on it so far. Actually quite bored, which is a shame as season one is probably my favourite of the Netflix Marvel shows. Way too much Trish, who is just irritating. Plus Malcolm popping up constantly is a bit irritating too. He's not really that interesting a character.
I'll carry on though, but yeah, disappointed so far.
