Judging from the trailers, I'm looking forward to listening to the soundtrack almost as much as watching the show :datass:

Apparently it's a 90s soundtrack :datass:

Luke Cage showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker has confirmed that there will be multiple musical performances on the show and that some of the artists who will appear include Faith Evans, Method Man, Charles Bradley, The Delfonics, and Raphael Saadiq. This comes on the heels of the teaser attached to the Daredevil season 2 finale being set to Nas' Made You Look and the official SDCC teaser trailer being set to Ol' Dirty Bastard's Shimmy Shimmy Ya. Add that to the fact that every episode title is a Gang Starr song and it's very clear that hip-hop permeates all throughout the upcoming Netflix and Marvel collaboration. That fact alone sets it apart from the likes of Daredevil and Jessica Jones.

"Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad in terms of the score. We had a 30-piece orchestra - we live scored the entire series. People don't really do that anymore. It give [the score] a certain breadth - it really invokes Isaac Hayes, it invokes Curtis Mayfield but does it in its own way, that has its own special hip-hop flavor. Not only what Adrian does in terms of having always used analog, recording and using real instruments but also the vibe of of Ali Shaheed Muhammad being one of the architects of A Tribe Called Quest. But then, in terms of actual on camera appearances, we have everyone from Faith Evans and Raphael Saadiq to Charles Bradley, to The Delfonics, Method Man and Jidenna. We've got some really great performances. It's this mixture of music matched with action and there's not a dull moment the entire season."

All of the episodes are titled after Gang Starr tracks

A few reviews are out there now. The one's I could find:

‘Luke Cage’ Review: Netflix Delivers the Hero We Need
One of the best things about Marvel’s growing set of series on Netflix is how each has managed to create its own distinct feel while not straying too far from the overall tone. Daredevil is dark, literally, and contains some of the universe’s most grisly violence, while Jessica Jones’ narrative bleakness is tempered by a bright banter. Luke Cage is smooth and deliberate, with Cage himself (Mike Colter) fighting to move both himself and his neighborhood into the light. All three protagonists struggle with the idea of heroism, and how they fit into a world forever changed by “The Incident” (see: The Avengers). But they do, each finding their own way to a path that will, eventually, bring them all together with Iron Fist for The Defenders.

This review is spoiler-free, though if even a modicum of detail about the series is too much, let the title be your guide. Additionally, this review is based off the first seven episodes of the series.

Can't wait. I'm currently re-watching S2 of Daredevil, that scene with Frank on the building where DD is chained up is just absolutely strawberry floating brilliant. I think that's my highlight of the whole Netflix/Marvel stuff up to now.

Mahershala Ali :datass:

Really looking forward to this, hope it's more Jessica Jones than Daredevil.

Just how Unbreakable is Luke Cage's skin?

My favourite part is the reverse when dd has caught Frank and is waiting on the cops. John's speech about his daughter is some of the finest acting I've seen on t.v.

As for it being marvels best tv effort yet, I find it hard to believe that anything can topple the majestic heights set by dd.

So is he vulnerable to knives. What if you fired a bazooka at him?

So the only way to kill him would be to shoot him down his throat or in the eyeball? Or are his insides unbreakable, too?

Wasn't there a scene in Jessica Jones where he almost died from internal injuries because they couldn't treat him? It's just the outside that's impervious to damage IIRC so you could poison him.

I think he's also got denser bone and muscle structure, so its not just his skin. Looking it seems in some incarnations at least he also has an advanced healing factor.
