An honest-to-god Insomniac 90+ in the HD era. As I live and breathe. Hot dam

Amazing, banger PS exclusive and he just can't help it.

He's not wrong though is he?

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Its twitter level fanboy nonsense.

Impressive review scores but the first one was overrated so I'll assume this is also an 7/8 with nice graphics that confuse people into giving it a bigger number

Gonna leave this as an idea for Christmas I think. Looks great but the price :dread: in amongst other things the next few months. I’d rather someone brought it for me

I'm thinking this too. Brother usually gets me PS vouchers for Xmas, and my birthday two days later, so that should get me this.

I tell you what, I went through Miles Morales (at last) recently and there’s this one moment when Pete strawberry floats off on holiday after the Rhino fight in the intro. You see NYC sprawl out in front of you in the night, you’re finally given the freedom of the open world to swing wherever you want, precisely as they drop that Jaden/Kid Cudi song that they don’t even include in the OST for some reason. Low pass filter on the track when you go in the menus, fading to nothing as you approach the first mission. Chills, man. I hope we get more moments like this in the new game because this kind of stuff stays with me for years.

That's sick. Makes me more I interested to try the games if there's music drops like that! :)

I'm not going to lie but I had tears in my eyes during that bit in Miles Morales. I think it was a combination of new console hype and pandemic isolation.

Good to see another banger from Insomniac. Miles Morales left me a little cold though tbh, which was kind of an extension of how I felt about the original. Not that it isn’t great but it just lacks some originality for me. Although I did all the DLC and MM they’re just games I kind of mindlessly blast through rather than fully invest in. Podcast games really.

Because of that, and despite the fantastic scores for this, I think Sonys pricing will make this an easy one to hold off on until Christmas. £70 is a joke and I refuse to support it.

I think lack of originality is definitely a fair criticism in some aspects of the games. The combat is basically lifted straight from the Arkham games and it doesn't really expand on it in a meaningful way.

I hope they have made it a bit more challenging. MM was way too easy, even on the hardest difficulty level (not including the one that only unlocks for NG+).

It made all the cool things you could do in combat feel completely arbitrary.

Have to disagree with this, to be honest. Yes, the basic combat concept is lifted straight from Arkham but it's so much more evolved and completely fluid. Arkham is much more rigid and "prompt" based whereas Spider-Man has more room for creativity in its combat.

I don't mind the combat it allowed me to have fun feel cool and not think too hard about it. My problem is that I feel like I know what I'm going to be doing for 90% of the game and it doesn't seem that exciting to me. It's an issue with the open world nature of it.

Their Wolverine game has me way more intrigued.

No amount of combat fluidity can improve how annoying it was to fight the Sable guys by the endgame.

Ugh. Sable energy guys and RPG spam in every single fight. The Arkham games at least understood how to balance enemy types.

Well not really beyond the surface level. Only if you're a chumpbawumba.

First you dodge not block, which changed the rhythm massively and secondly if you're in any way competent Spiderman combat was all about staying in the air and juggling/comboing - very different from Arkham.

The full cut scene movie of the game is now on YouTube. Amazing how quick people do this for new games.

Wish my image sig would work
