I haven't heard anyone make that complaint yet but you. Traynor actually tells you when those missions are available, if you ignored her than that's your fault.

Well they couldve done a better job making them sound important.

"Something academy is in danger"

Wow well ill get right on that cause its not like im trying to save the strawberry floating galaxy from impending doom or anything.

Ive no idea what gunts mission even was. I only remember missing the something academy one which im guessing was Jacks mission. They couldve marked it as a priority, i mean, these are the people who helped you save the galaxy once already, so you know, they might come in handy again.

They're not a priority mission, though. You only gain war assets out of actually doing their missions.

I think you have to actually accept the Grissom Academy quest first to get her to mention Grunt's mission as well. I could be wrong. I think Samara's and Jacob's (lol) are all the same, too.

Wrong ;)

You do have to actually speak to her don't you? Because you can refuse to help them if you choose the right dialogue.

She doesn't give you Grunt's Mission. Urdnot Wrex/Wreav give you it. They've sent a squad out and they've gone missing, and they then sent Grunt and his Marines after it.

Regardless of the whole saving the galaxy thing, you should realise you're playing a video game, and an RPG at that and you're meant to do side missions.

If you're going to take that time scale seriously then you should take hers seriously as well whenever she tells you someone is under attack, unless you're expecting them to be continually under attack for the next month or so that it takes you to save the Galaxy.

No, i got the academy one jsut from talking to her, didnt have to accept it i dont think, but it timed out on me cause you know, i was trying to save the galaxy and gooseberry fool.

Yep you're right.

I actually liked the surprise of turning up there, though and seeing Jack. If I'd have known she was there going in to it, it wouldn't have been as good.

When exactly do these quests disappear? When the Citadel gets attacked?

If you do 3 other Missions, it's gone.

Aaah I see.

It's the same with the bomb on Tuchunka mission as well isn't it? At least they make sense for why they disappear.

Well yeah, so did I but it was still about 30 seconds before you see her which made it more awesome.

Can't believe Bioware are trying to spin the negative fan reaction into something positive for advertising

To be fair, that'll be their PR (or EA's PR) agency doing that. But still, pretty strawberry floating cheeky.

I actually like that they're set up like that. The fact that it's such a surprise to us is just a reflection of how stupidly games handle these things, usually.

Yeah, the quest tracking isn't perfect (for some like Barla Von's mission) but some of the side missions it's somewhat realistic that you have a 'deadline', so to speak, to complete them in. Like if you don't save the Academy...then Cerberus succeeds and takes all the students and teachers. Don't disarm that bomb? Then Cerb succeed in detonating it. Same as in ME2, if you take too much time to save your crew, the Collectors turn them into mush. But as i said there are some side missions that aren't clear that they're going to disappear if you don't do them quick enough (mainly Citadel ones).

To Bioware's credit, a fair few of the side missions do depend on decisions made in previous games. It's just a shame that our decisions from ME2 and 3 didn't really effect the outcome and conclusion of the game. There are a few minor scene changes during the epic space battle if your allied fleet isn't strong enough...I was hoping for a beefed up version of the Suicide Mission mechanic from ME2 but this time involving entire races and fleets.

Still, there's something to be said about the negative reaction being huge because so many fans cared so much about the series.

I love how Mass Effect 3 got 75+ perfect scores. It just shows that reviewers don't actually finish a game before reviewing it.
