It's embarrassing that Forbes of all people are doing a better job at reviewing video games than the so called specialists

I can't be bothered to start a topic about ReviewGate so I'll leave this here for anybody who hasn't seen it...

The only ME3 review scores that I'd question are the publications that gave it a perfect score.

You might not like the last 20 minutes of the game but it's still a 9/10 game for me.

My favourite was IGNs review with the completely different layout to every other review they have ever done, complete with animated background and everything http://uk.ign.com/articles/2012/03/06/m ... t-3-review

Glorified PR.

I'd personally give it 8/10 tops. You can't give it a 9 with things like the quest tracking (an important part of a game like this) being a complete mindfuck.

Anyway we can argue about numbers all day, the worst part of game reviews are that they tend to avoid all the bad parts and only review the best bits. The number is irrelevant as it is just someone's opinion. You can't form your own opinion about ME3 before buying it because no one mentions the bad handling of quest tracking, or the ending etc.

Which also makes the 'don't buy it if you don't like it, you entitled babies' argument complete crap because the people spouting that are supposed to highlight the not so great parts, so we can form a decision before we buy it. We can't do that if they say it's superb and give everything 9s and 10s.

Holy gooseberry fool, I hadn't seen that. That's awful. I mean, really really awful. It leaves very little doubt that payments were exchanged as the amount of extra work that must have gone into that page is quite clear to see.

We have movie takeovers similar to that on our site all the time but they never impact or intrude upon the reviews. The Hunger Games bought a gooseberry fool load of advertising space on Yahoo and our reviewer ended up giving it 2.5/5 despite most people in the office loving it and it doing a lot better score-wise on most other sites.

Our reviews are strawberry floating terrible though

Surely there's a difference between a site takeover and an article takeover? You seen the former all the time but this is the first time I've seen the actual structure of an article changed like that. And it's not even presented as an advert!

How Moriarty can publish something like that and follow it up with that shitty video decrying any sort of criticism over the ending is mind boggling.

EDIT: Not sure if the ad changes every click, but when I went through to the IGN piece the banner-ad for for a Chobot hosted show. Shameless!

It's advertorial but, in the UK at least, you're meant to make it clear that that's what it is. Not sure about the US but seeing as it's a supposedly critical review of the product they'd get away with it. It's darn cheeky though, and shady

Isn't IGN one of News Internationals babies? I occasionally have a perv over Chobot on the 360 videos and read the odd comic book movie news scraps. Otherwise I avoid it.

So I've just this minute finished the game and I now understand the fuss over the ending.

As far as I know my ending was "good" in that the Reapers fled and I saved most life in the Galaxy with new DNA but I think Shepard may have died (I chose to synergise with the Citadel or something and turn Joker into a green robot). I don't actually have a problem with that as an ending but the last section seemed so rushed. What happened to the rest of my squadmates, my old friends, earth etc? I saw Liara (my love interest) step off the Normandy at the end with Jokerbot and EDI but that was it. I had Garrus along with me on the final mission so where the hell did he end up?

I've been playing a lot of the multiplayer so my readiness rating was 90-something% and I think I collected most of the war assets (I had nearly 6500+ when I started the last mission) but I have no idea what the cut off points were or if there was something for max assets and max readiness. I'll be looking this info up after I type this post.

Lastly, what the strawberry float was going on with that last cutscene with the man and 'the boy'? I swear that the child was just a resized Shepard model, right down to his idling animation. The only thing distracting me from that was the terrible voice acting by the old man. Bioware :fp:

I did love the rest of the game but the last London mission and the ending have left me feeling rather unsatisfied.

That would be world famous voice actor Buzz Aldrin. I forgive him. ;)

 Really? Ok I'll let that one slide  It still doesn't excuse midget Shepard.

Have many people done this on Insanity??? Just on the bit where you recruit Garrus and the Primarch and it really is a pain in the arse :fp: Not only do you have a small area to fight in, they lump 2 Brutes at you so it's impossible to stay in cover. You stay in cover the Brutes just come at you, you try running away from them, the annoying Marauders just destroy you :x

I killed The Brutes before they even reached me. I was playing Infiltrator, though.

I knew you were one of the folks to complete this on Insanity  Yeah I'm stuck as a soldier - funny thing though, after writing that moaning post I actually managed to get past it

I'm not looking forward to the final battle on Insanity though where they just fling like 3 Brutes, 3 Banshees and just about all the other Reaper forces.

I was worried about two points in the game on Insanity.

Kei Lang in the Illusive Man's office and where you've said, the very end of the game where you have to defend the missiles.

I ended up doing them both first try.

A tip I used for the very last part of the game. I used EDI and James and specced them out into their tank specs. I gave James full protection in Fortification and EDI full protection in Defence Matrix. This seemed to help a lot as they didn't go down at all until the very end, where I would just run to one corner of the map and then revive them as to distract the enemies once more.

I did have the advantage of being able to cloak away every time it got rough, though. Also being able to cloak and run for the missile controls at the very end was a huge advantage!

Without spoiling anything because I'm only 6 hours in to the game so far but the ending. What's going on? All I know is that people thinks it's awful and want it changed.

All I want to know is, our Bioware changing the ending or just releasing DLC to stick on the end of the story? I want to see the proper ending you see and don't want to get to the end in a month or two and find out it's been "patched" to be "better".

I actually had a feeling they might...artistic interigty or not, entitlement or not...Bioware must have felt the huge negative reaction that the starchild got. The best way for them to rescue the ending is to give more importance to the war assets we built up, more cutscenes of the battles (i wanna see Primes and Krogan fighting along side each other!), etc. I don't think we'll see the Starchild removed unfortunately, but I have a feeling the DLC will be somewhat decent.

By the way Zell, how on earth did you manage to do the main battle on the Grissom Academy level? I have a feeling it's going to involve words 'infiltrator' and 'cloaking'
