OK, I tried, but Cal, you now seem to be denying... well, everything, so I'm giving up.

Enjoy your worldview :)

The FBI have just come out and said they are now investigating this as an act of terrorism.

It's the same argument that suggests Farage isn't racist even though he dislikes Romanians just because they're from Romania: Romania isn't a race and technically you can be any ethnicity and be Romanian. :simper:

Sadly, I can't say what I think of you - because that would be stooping to your level and I've got a feeling it's already a bit crowded down there in the gutter.

Still, something to cheer you up:

Muslims Aren't A Race, So I Can't Be Racist, Right? Wrong.

Yes, the HuffPo agrees with you! I am a racist! But wait -

First, let me be clear. It is true that Muslims are not a race.

Great! I knew I was right. Hang on, it can't be that simple, this is the HuffoPo, after all...

Black people are not a race either. Neither, for that matter, are White people.

Knew it. They had to wriggle out of it somehow...

Okay, now you might wonder about Jewish people? Certainly they are a race, right? Science proves they -- like White and Blacks -- are not a race either.

...This is getting weird...

And what about Asians? Are they a race?

Nope. Asians are not a race.

The Indigenous People of America, a race?

Nope, not a race.

You see, there is no such thing as race or races, traditionally understood. Scientists long ago proved that race is not a biological reality but a myth, a socially constructed concept. Yet, despite the data, human beings have been programmed to associate specific things to certain "racial groups"; things like intelligence, work ethic, family values, and behavior. As such, we have been brainwashed to think that some groups are inherently better than others, and that the White race -- to be frank -- is better than all.

*mind.blown.*

Ultimately, the issue here is "racism without race," as sociologist Eduardo Bonilla-Silva calls it. The more we assume that race is limited to skin color, the less we understand about contemporary racism faced by Muslims at home and abroad. Now is the time to teach youth that racism is much more than the white-black dichotomy. Racism is changing in its form, but the beast is still very much alive and well.

...

I think the takeaway is that in the liberal fascist worldview pretty much anything can be counted as 'racism' if enough people hashtag it, or if HuffPo decides it is.

Have a nice weekend, Diabolito!

The idea that mankind cannot simply be divided into races is nothing new. There are no clear lines separating different races.

What I learned in college is that racism is discrimination based on ethnicity, skin colour or cultural background.

Playing word games with the definition of "racism" is such a bizarre gambit to make: even if you win, you're still a xenophobic bigot.

I don't know why you're resorting to personal attacks when what I have said is factually correct:

big·ot
\ˈbi-gət\
noun
: a person who strongly and unfairly dislikes other people, ideas, etc. : a bigoted person; especially : a person who hates or refuses to accept the members of a particular group (such as a racial or religious group)
Full Definition
:a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance

Sounds like a pretty accurate description of you and your opinions

Most people seem to see it that way i'd assume. Generally it tends to be racist people that get hung up on the technicalities of what defines race as a way of justifying their racist and bigoted views.

Diabolito wrote:Sounds like a pretty accurate description of you and your opinions

But this is just pure abuse and typical hate mongering. I don't hate muslims. I don't refuse to accept them in our society. I am not prejudiced against anyone or anything apart from religiously-motivated murderers, kidnappers, rapists and thugs. I don't treat muslims with hatred and intolerance. I never have done and I never will.

You - and others here - should be ashamed of your continual abuses - based on nothing your own petty, quite spiteful prejudices. Every time one of you intimates that I might be a bigot or a racist you tell the forum more about your own hang-ups than any you might project onto me.

We've already established that a rational fear of violent Islamic extremism is not a bigoted or racist response to a very obvious danger. We know that it is right and fair in an open and free society to be critical of Islam - that is, if we are prepared to be even-handed in our approach to issues around free speech, tolerance, human rights, equality and so on. Islam is not beyond reproach, and it cannot be exempted from critical analysis because of a misplaced fear of being labelled 'racist' or 'bigoted' for daring to call it into question.

I have shown that there is a link between Islam and terrorism across the world. This is not a bigoted or a racist thing to say: it is an actual fact.

Yet you continue to subtly intimate that I must just be - at the very least - a bigot for holding these reasonable views and opinions. Nowhere have I called for any punitive actions against ordinary muslims, based on their religion, their culture, ethnicity or the colour of their skin (all of which we know is many and varied - globally). Do I think democratic nations have a duty to protect their values and their people against the dangers of Islam, its values and its intolerances? Absolutely I do. That's not a bigoted view - it's a view based on every day Islam. For instance, I don't think, in a free democratic nation which promotes equality for all, that Jeremy Corbyn should be addressing muslim meetings in which women are segregated from men. I call that hypocritical cowardice. Either we stand up for our values and freedoms or we allow a creeping 'Islamification' of them to accommodate a culture and set of religious values that are continually (and often violently) at odds with our own. That is not a racist or a bigoted thing to say - it is a valid opinion. It is not a racist or a bigoted opinion.

Right, well thanks for those opinions of yours. And how does any of that relate to me? I haven't gotten 'hung up' on anyone's 'race' and I don't hold bigoted views on anyone, including muslims. As for that last bit about 'ragheads muzzers' - I'm speechless. I have certainly never, ever, said anything like that about muslims, so why are you quoting it in a response to me?

As I said, I won't be joining you in the gutter.

Thing is, it's actually irrelevant whether there is a link between Islam and terrorism. There is a link, of course there is, but so what? What does linking the two help anyone to achieve? Nothing! We're not going to stop people from believing what they want to believe and whilst these terrorists are taking their beliefs from their lovely little book, so do more sane Muslims who do not do these things. Denying there is a link is foolish, but so does jabbering on about it without explaining how our knowledge of this can help us in any way.

It must be an incredibly weak link considering the amount of Muslims in the world compared to Islamic terrorists.

So much pointless 'debate' on this forum. :dread: Can you all give it a rest, or at least take it to PM so the rest of us don't have to watch you all going round in circles.

Just watched some of the videos of the 'journalists' going through the perpetrator's house. It's just staggering how retarded these people must be. Unbelievable. :fp:

This type of debate reminds me of when people say football fans who cause trouble at games aren't 'real fans'. Yes they are, they're fans of the club (unless they are literally just tourists going to football games involving clubs they have zero affiliation to simply to cause trouble - I'm sure that has been the case in a proportion of incidents). They just happen to be twatty football fans. IS members are twatty Muslims. Most Muslims are not twatty Muslims.

I agree with Blue Eyes in that there is obviously a link but it doesn't actually mean anything useful and I certainly don't think it should be considered an association of or insult to the vast majority of Muslims, just as I don't think your average Millwall fan should be considered to be more violent than any other average fan of another team.

It really is a crap debate and I'm sorry for chipping in , I've got nothing better to do right now.
