Story unfolding now :dread:

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news ... d-10094869

A mass shooting in central Lille has left 'many wounded' and sparked fears of a terror attack.

It is unclear who carried out the attack and whether or not it is still ongoing.

Armed police have sealed off roads into the city centre as they try to contain the situation.

French reports say there were several shots fired near the Porte d'Arras metro station at around 9.50pm.

At least three people were injured, including a 14-year-old.

It's a tough call to decide if someone going nuts these days it just someone going nuts or a terror attack and I'm glad it isn't my job to try and do so.

A terror attack is literally anything that's used to try and incite terror.

This event has incited terror, so therefore it's a terror attack.

That does pretty much make the war on terror unwinable though as it goes way beyond being a fight against set organisations or even religion.
If anyone can be the cause of a terror attack if they lose it and go on a rampage how can that possibly be stopped?

It isn't though, a terror attack is something that has done for a political, religious or whatever reason. Like IRA stuff, 9/11 etc.

If a person goes in a rampage it isn't a terror attack it is a banana split being a mental, but if the attack is politically or whatever provoked it is terrorism, like the mp being killed around the referendum.

It is still a tough call and something can be both a rampage and a terrorist attack or one or other of them.

The war on terror was never winnable to begin with. It's like the war on drugs. There's actually a lot of money in terrorism.

Also you can't beat terrorists by killing them. Terrorist organisations use fear to recruit people. For example America bombarded illegally with us into Iraq and in the meantime we killed a lot of innocent people. Young men and women saw this happen to their families and they were brainwashed by groups like ISIS into fighting back. The same thing happens in Palestine with Hamas.

How about we try and beat the terrorists by hitting them with a huge wave of legal paperwork so they end up in endless litigation.
See how they like terrorism after 7 years of working through all the mumbo jumbo our legal eagles can throw at them just to beable to walk into a shop and start buying the stuff they need let alone all the spurious court actions to get them made homeless.

Let's crush their souls to dust.

This wasn't terrorism as it was nothing to do with politics/religion. This was a "normal" crime as it looks to be drugs related.

If we were to class anything that incites terror as terrorism then my 10 month old can have me arrested for hiding behind the sofa before popping up and saying "boo!" at him.

The real act if terrorism there is your sofa having enough room behind it for you to hide there. The layout of your living room must be awful with so much wasted space.

Actually there isn't any room behind my sofa, I hide more in the side of it. You can add liar to my list of terrorism offences.
