PostMDK2 coming to Wii and PC
by tomvek » Tue Jun 29, 2010 3:44 am

MDK2 is quite the game. It's a little weird, but a total blast to play with some really creative level design for its three playable characters. Or so I'm told. I've never actually dug into it because I have a fear of characters with large pointy heads (damn you, Silent Hill!). However, if I can overcome my largiapointyheadphobia by later this year I will have another chance to play the game as Interplay and Beamdog have announced that the BioWare-developed game will be getting a Wii and PC release.

The Wii release will be a download only and should be landing some time before the end of the year. No word on if it is the Dreamcast or PS2 version of the game. The PC release, which is also download only through Beamdog's digital distribution program, doesn't have a release window yet, but it will be an HD version of the game called MDK2 HD.

Maybe Interplay is finally getting its act together and testing the waters for that MDK sequel they were talking about way back when. A minor miracle has already occurred this weekend, why not two?

Would love to see the new HD version released on XBLA at some point with added achievements. Great game, had a lot of fun with it back on PC when it first came out.

When yer pasting press releases during the graveyard shift, you ain't got time to read threads.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

MDK2 was already released on PC. I've got a copy of it around here someplace.

Infact, both games appear to be available on steam for a pittance.

This is MDK2 HD, presumably with upgraded assets for higher resolution.

Hmm, fair point. It's been a long time since I last played it, so I don't recall, but the original is probably old enough that it doesn't even properly support wide-screens.

Good to see stuff like this coming out on WiiWare. Hopefully it sets a standard for more DC/PS2 games on the service.

http://www.gog.com is selling MDK 1/2. They work on Vista (probably with DosBox preinstalled).

I remember MDK1 was one of the first PC games I bought with all my own money. Never got the chance to play the sequel, so I'm looking forward to this.

Apologies for the repost, just back from holiday so I've missed a lot of news. When I read this I was just so excited, loved this game a lot so had to get some discussion going for it.

Deserves it's own topic anyway ;)

Never played the second one. The first is brilliantly insane. It came with my first iMac all those years ago

Like I said, they're on Steam too for about the same price, though I don't know how well they work.

(MDK 2 was a Windows/Direct X 5 title, IIRC). Bioware ported the PC version, interestingly enough.
