This is the third generation they've released a compilation along these lines.

A Dreamcast or Saturn compilation would be great, but those systems just don't have he same mindshafe as the Mega Drive.

That and they'd actually have to put some effort I to porting the games (they lost the source code for Panzer Dragoon Saga :fp: )

Can you imagine the reaction from 90s kids if you'd told them that one day Sega would be releasing a collection of their Mega Drive games on a Nintendo console?

I think its more the latter than anything else. Its easy for them to keep pumping out the same old Megadrive games. Putting a compilation of Saturn or Dreamcast games together would require far more work.

I remember seeing all the amazing arcade games Sega were releasing in EDGE/CVG in 1994 and thinking Sega were about to utterly dominate the industry.

Then PlayStation happened.

Sega may not dominate the industry, but they certainly dominate my heart

The emulation is not great on this

If it bothers you like it does me use something like genesis plus gx instead.

Dunno how they keep faffing it up again and again.

And yet they continue to be missing the true classics of the Mega Drive - Herzog Zwei, Warriors of the Eternal Sun, Buck Rogers and Rings of Power.

My uncle worked for Nintendo in 1994 and had a SNES that could play Mega Drive games.

Why would I even lie though?

I held off getting this on the PS4 as I had a feeling it'd eventually end up on the Switch. Streets of Rage IN THE PALM OF MY HAND

Just had a look at the included games.

Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle

Fatal Labyrinth
Flicky
Gain Ground
Galaxy Force II
Golden Axe
Golden Axe II
Golden Axe III
Gunstar Heroes
Kid Chameleon
Landstalker
Light Crusader
Phantasy Star II
Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom
Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millenium
Ristar
Shadow Dancer: The Secret of Shinobi
Shining in the Darkness
Shining Force
Shining Force II
Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sonic 3D Blast
Sonic Spinball
Space Harrier II
Streets of Rage
Streets of Rage 2
Streets of Rage 3
Super Thunder Blade
Sword of Vermilion
The Revenge of Shinobi
ToeJam & Earl
ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron
Vectorman
VectorMan 2
Virtua Fighter 2

A fairly decent selection aside from a few duff titles like the abysmal port of Virtua Fighter 2 but as is usually the case some glaring omissions due to licensing issues (Earthworm Jim springs to mind).

Nice to seek all the SoR games and Phantasy Star IV in there though.

Got the collection on PS4 and it's a pretty dam good collection (it even has VR support now)
Very tempted to get this on Switch as it's a perfect fit for portable play.
