CRAP.

So just watch the story cut scenes on YouTube?

Yeah. That would probably be better.

Yeah. That would probably be better.

So story aside, you actively disliked the gameplay in chapter 2?

There's a few original missions in there. The majority of chapter 2 is just repeated missions. From memory, you don't have to do all of those to progress to the original content, but it felt like a complete after thought nonetheless. I didn't think the sandbox they created was compelling enough for me to want to do those missions again. I felt that it was very light on new content and there are other, plot related things that I didn't like about it.

Core gameplay was much the same. So if you dig that and you want a bit more difficulty, play it. We'd love to hear what you think of it.

You don't have to play any of the repeated missions at all. Do all new missions when they appear, complete all yellow side ops, and listen to all yellow cassette tapes when you get them. If there are none of the above, play a couple of easy side ops, after 3 or 4 you should get a "return to mother base" cinematic and either a short cutscene or the next new story mission will open.

If you play it like that chapter two doesn't take long at all. If you're enjoying the gameplay then I'd go through all the new missions at least.

Finally finished Chapter 1 in this, because of the repetitive nature of the missions this was the first MGS game that I've ever not finished within a month.

Spoilers for chapter 1:
I think we can all agree that the gameplay in this Metal Gear is fantastic. The "story" however even for a Metal Gear game is.....honestly I don't even know what the strawberry float is going on in this game. Granted I've yet to tackle Chapter 2 (I've heard so many good things about it :shifty: did the man on fire just randomly kill himself? is that baby psycho mantis? what the actual strawberry float was Skull Face's plan? why would you bring Sahelanthropus ( :fp: ) BACK TO THE strawberry floating BASE WE HAVE BUILT!

The "teaser" for Chapter 2 looks like it's going to leave me with yet more unanswered questions too. Christ, this game is like a season of Lost.

What do I think of it all? I have no idea.

I'm currently into Episode Three and it's marvellous so far, but a lot things to learnt about the Mother Base.

Just listening to a Bowie album in work and only just realised Kojima obviously got the Diamond Dogs name from him (a track called...Diamond Dogs!!11!!) as well as using The Man Who Sold The World track (credited to Bowie in the game but that version is by Ultravox/Midge Ure) :fp:

I've got back into tos after a few months break and am enjoying it much more than I was when the fatigue started to set in. Even managed to get to Africa and unlock Quiet as a buddy, nice change of scenery from Afghanistan and D-Horse :shifty:

Totally given up on the story though, I skip all cutscenes now, just can't be arsed with it.

I've just completed mission 35 I think with the containers, died god knows how many times! How much further is it till the end of the story? I'm finding it harder to plough through this game, it's getting annoyingly boring and frustrating as it goes on, and makes me just want to play MGS1 or the HD Collection, but the idea of not finding out the ending drives me insane

So I finally completed this. It only took seven months.

Well, I say completed. I still haven't
done missions 48-50, and there are 20 side ops too. I completed all the ones that were made available as I completed the main missions
. But I have now seen
all three endings
. I don't even want to think how much time I spent playing to achieve all of this. And that's without
going for S rank on everything (I got about 10) and completing all the mission objectives
.

Still, just in time for Ratchet and Clank, so that's nice.

Went back to this yesterday as I'd like to finish it before getting any new games.

I take it mission 33 is the start of the rubbish missions? What a load of gooseberry fool.

So Konami went and completely re-did all the MGS3 cut-scenes in the MGSV engine and they look AMAZING, then made a Pachinko game out of it. :slol:

Un-fucking-believable    It's like they're purposely trying to piss off fans at this point.

Look at how strawberry floating good this looks!
