I'm just... struggling to see where all the praise is aimed at the moment.

This is my fear. I don't think it'll be a game for me. It's *tough*.

What, the difficulty? Nope.

But yeah, listen to the one dissenting voice. He may be right.

After about 15 minutes the heli leaves and I'm stuck and have to restart. Lost all the resources I gathered too apparently as they didn't respawn for my retry.

Hmm.

Pretty sure you're told over comms to get on chopper with him. And while I didn't do what you did, I am going to assume you may have still been able to call in another chopper pick up.

Just had 2 SO not even work for me. Extract a high level soldier and mine clearing both in Africa. Cleared the base where the soldier should have been and had DD with me but nope, no high level soldier there. Then made my way to the mine field and cleared all the mines (again same play through so DD was with me) and getting the last mine didn't clear the SO mission :x

99 hours now and not really even half way through, let's see if I can double that by the time I finish :slol:

Believe me, I tried to call another chopper. Like I said, I'd played a lot of GZ so knew that should be an option. It wasn't there. The only thing under the mission tab at that point was Cassette Tapes and Log. As for the breaking cover thing it wasn't without a button press, but I'd be slowly edging up to a rock when instead of stopping against it Snake would just pop on top of it. I'll try and get a video as it's happened at least 3 or 4 times now.

I was very careful to say it was me who wasn't getting on with the game. I'm not saying it's bad, in not saying everyone else is wrong, I'm simply saying that, so far, I'm not enjoying it.

It happens like that sometimes. You come to a game after reading all the hype and good things people have to say about it, but then when it's your turn you just don't see it. There is a great game in there, or half of one anyway (still not properly started chapter 2) and the minor gripes do not get in the way of that.

Agreed, except from the horse animations. That gooseberry fool's just broken.

That I would like to see a video of  I didn't notice it clipping through anything major. And other than the two second wait before you're given actual control of the horse (what is up with that, Kojima?) I thought it did its job really well. (mechanics wise and in helping you be drawn into the world.)

I got an emergency call from Mother Base.

I returned suddenly.

The main staff and soldiers surprised me and sang happy birthday to Boss. There's even a cake. Yeah, it's a nice touch as it's my birthday today.

:x SOs in Lufwa Valley/Mansion can bugger off.

Messed up extract high-skilled soldier 16 *so* *many* *times*. I've since bit the bullet and decided to develop the camo for the more annoying SOs.

I thought D-Horse was great to control. It doesn't have the prettiest or smoothest looking animations sure (although I still think they're fine), but you could tell they prioritised maneuverability over it looking realistic. That's one of the things I think this game nails control-wise, I always felt in complete control of Snake or whatever mode of transport I was using. None of that bullshit Rockstar game style turn radius, you push in one direction and Snake snaps that way instantly.

Just done the Fulton the burning man mission.

Working side ops as only tough missions left.

Sold a ton of common metal. Finally developed the worm hole. Need the teleport arm thingy too. Upgrading my FOB at the min too so I can send out more soldiers as its the best way to make cash.

What's the point of this command?

I half expected the horse to rush over and shat on a soldier's shoes.

The "eliminate the wandering puppets" side-ops are so bad. I'm not sure what the point of them even is. There's no challenge in downing them at all and there are no normal enemies in the regions where they are. It's just a slog from start to finish having to extract or kill 8 of them. And then do it 15 more times in different areas. And they are the final 15 side-ops, too which is even more strange. You'd think they would finish it with something more interesting or challenging.

Anyway, Side-ops now 100% complete. Thank strawberry float.

Well, spent a while with this today and I'm enjoying it now. I've actually got some semi functional equipment that means infiltrating a base isn't a strawberry floating nightmare, I'm getting that hang of the messy-as-fuck Mother Base system and I'm learning the general flow of the thing. I still think it's mainly leg work with the occasional high though. When it hits those highs however...clearing out the supply depot, bombing the radar and having my zebra-print chopper storm down with Rebel Yell screaming from its speakers was pretty metal.

I did get two videos of my main issues, the scenery clipping while sneaking and the awful horse animations. I'll put them up in a bit.
