Something that I noticed during the final cutscene too:

When Venom is listening to the tape from BB on Mother Base there's quite pointedly the sound of gunfire and explosions in the background. This is never explained. I'm wondering if this was meant to take place during another attack on Mother Base which would have been an obvious way to conclude the game. Instead it's presented completely free of context. I mean, they could have popped a brief shot of Venom sleeping before you replay the hospital scene, turn it into a dream sequence. But no. It just plops in and boom, done.

Really disappointing end to a fantastic experience. I'm just mopping up the side-ops now, but that's only because I want to get to the final Wandering Mother Base soldier to finish the Paz sub-plot. After that I'll do the Quiet side-op and I think that'll be that.

Mopped up the last 4 SO missions this morning hoping it would eventually open up another wandering MB soldier extraction but it didn't and I found the last photo by mistake.

Its on the wall near Paz's room near the door that takes you outside.

Just completed a nuke too, and it wasn't 30 hours in game time as someone on here had said. You create it using resources gathered 'online' so the time is real time whether or not your playing the game.

81% complete just need to S rank around half of the missions, mostly the earlier missions before you destroy Sehalanthropus and need to capture bastard animals using the capture cage. Did think Quiet's ending was the better ending it was actually an awesome mission just need to replay it and extract the tanks (guessing you need to use stealth camo for that) as I already S ranked it first go.

Only done the first 7 main missions and think it is decent, but feels like a bunch of mini quests with little real story and the story is told via those annoying tapes. Definitely feel the series should stay in its linear roots and hope the ending isn't as bad as people are making out!

Can't say I had a problem with the ending, absolutely loved the game but Quiet's ending is better and then there's the whole deleted episode/chapter which I watched on the bonus Blu Ray I got with the game and it's such a shame it was cut. Here's hoping it's finished and released as a piece of DLC.

Speaking of the bonus disc, I watched all the trailers too and one of them shows Snake CQC'ing a soldier and gunning him down with his own weapon. Is that something that's not in the game? The only thing close to that I've done is counter an enemy by knocking his gun to the side and jawing the strawberry floater.

I feel a little sad inside now that it's over but I'll have fun mopping up mission quests and S ranks. No idea how some had platinum'd the game so early, around 185 hours and still got gooseberry fool to do.

I don't think there is any indication about where (or when) the ending takes place. If you take it literally, then it's a decade or so after the events of The Phantom Pain and yet nothing has really changed about Venom's appearance. I always assumed it was just some symbolic / metaphoric ending. After all, the ending is literally Venom uploading data for Metal Gear 1 into an actual MSX2 console!

I was hoping there would be more MB invasion missions. The Mosquito one was fun, so it's a shame it goes so under used.

If you hold the aim button when CQC'ing someone you grab their weapon and hold them up. You can then interrogate / fulton / or gun them down at your leisure.

See, that completely passed me by. It does appear to imply that he's listening to that tape at the start of Metal Gear 1, but out of context as it is I had no idea. Hmm.

I've been avoiding forums about this game as I'm trying to form my own impression on it - currently absolutely loving it. Not like me to stick more than 30 hours into anything without it becoming a chore, but I'm still looking forward to coming home from work and turning the game on.

Just done Mission 23. I ended up a bit disappointed, but I think it was my own fault -
Scrapping with Eli, and enjoyed the first phase with him in the ship. Then he buggers off and starts lobbing petrol bombs at me. I find him once and smack him, so he runs away again. This time, I can't find him for the life of me. Quiet is covering me, so she is putting down the rest of the kids when they wake up and start trying to kill me. I run around for 10 minutes, head back to the top of the ship, find Eli and hit him once and it's over.

So what started as a cool little game of hide and seek turned out to be massively anticlimactic. I'm assuming Quiet was taking pot shots at him, sending him back to the ship for the final punch, right?

They should've made one of the mission objectives on each episode a challenge involving a specific weapon or item. I'd have more incentive to swap out my tranq sniper rifle & pistol, silenced assault rifle & Hand of Jehuty.
I've not touched a shotgun or grenade launcher yet. I've done 138 hours.

Yeah... I just stick to the standard weapons for most of the time.

I realised that I haven't upgraded the standard silenced assault weapon three days ago and I upgraded it. Shows you how much I rely on the standard silenced pistol and empty infinite gun clips and hand to hand combat.

I haven't started creating shotguns and other assault weapons plus grenade launchers and other lethal weapons. The only weapons I've focused on is the rocket launcher and c4 as I need them for a mission with all those tanks and helicopters, but that was before I found the specialist that can let me fulton them.

If you care about trophies then you need to develop whatever you can to hut that 300 mark.

For a long time I went no kill. Then one mission I decided to speed run killing. Turns out the silenced sniper rifle and assault rifle combo is so much fun. It was headshots all the way from there and many many S ranks.

I'm more focused on getting all the platform upgraded first.

One platform to go. I've unlocked the final mission and will do Quiets final mission in a bit once I feel I don't need her any more.

I love getting weapons to level 6 and seeing the super amazing versions. Need a good wack of cash and more resources but its enjoyable finding all the prisoners I've missed in the main missions and seeing what they unlock back at base.

I had a quick blast with D Walker which was fast fun, may use him for a while to collect soldiers or to destroy some tanks.

Wish my image sig would work

I was at a similar number of hours at the time, and I ended up playing another 20 hours or so to finish Chapter 2. But lower your expectations - Chapter 2 feels a little slapdash (most likely due to Konami) and there is a lot of repeated content.

Just started this properly and skittled through to Mission 6 (a honey bee weapon or something) clearing most side ops as I go. I find that the controls are a little fiddly and cumbersome, but Big Boss himself 'controls' very well, a nimble dude for his age. I'm not entirely subscribing to the idea that an open-world format was the right idea for this type of game, either. I also think I'm going to just go right ahead and ignore the story, wafer thin as it is anyway. Sitting about listening to tapes is no substitute.

That's the one I got a bit stuck with. Make sure you get dropped at the opposite end of the valley from the mansion, makes it a whole lot easier. Beyond that a lot of it is luck. Never crouch, always be prone, bring active decoys and sleep grenades. It's not one of the best missions.

I think that's the one with the crates, yes?.

I used Quiet as a distraction so the bad dudes would wonder a little & leave the crates for me to Fulton

Sleep grenades work wonders on that mission. Make it almost too easy, even.

Stealth camo, too. Remember you don't have to get an S-rank first time so use all the tools at your disposal even if they limit you to an A-rank.
