Yeah, I was running off the thought that this was all multiple year old things to a well regarded series so just assumed.

Fair play.

Tbh the idea of spoilers in essentially plat forming games is kind of hilarious, they have almost no story. but it's Nintendo.

I know, just back in the 16bit 2D sort of days it would get filled by stuff like manuals , there wasn't much to unveil in the game. I haven't played much of mp2/3 or other m but it's similar, I don't really consider them story type games. It's getting a lot better but generally Nintendo fans have to work hard to decipher and visualise story. And I like that. Forced narrative is dull as strawberry float.

Not even counting the sketchy-as-fuck stuff the federation is up to since she had no way of knowing until the bottle ship. I'm also not entirely sure what her plan was in bringing it back to the federation at all since she seems both shocked and appalled that they were making use of the metroids on the Bottle Ship and BSL. But the less we get into Other M the better, I'd say.

From a character development point it's needed, sure, but looking at it objectively she had no reason not to murder that baby the instant it popped out the egg.

She objectively had no reason tospare the thing created by the peaceful missing civilisation that took her in as a child? I can think of a few reasons why she would consider there to be hidden potential in such a thing. After all the metroids were created to kill a life form that Samus would later consider to be threatening enough to potentially end galactic civilisation. Samus is obviously unaware of this in Metroid II but based on her actions at the beginning of Super Metroid it could be argued that she saw the Metroids as potentially more than weapons as the Chozo were known as wise and peaceful race.

But really all of this is just fan theory. What matters is that it served its purpose as a character and narrative tool.

I may not have played Samus Returns yet or barely broken even on the Legacy Edition but I did just take an order for about £50 worth of custom metroid decals stateside so there's plenty of Metroid love in the air.

I think I forgot to mention, one of my customers got back in touch with me after 2 years because they had just named their babie girl Samus. No kidding. So yeah babies make people want things.

Completed this 100% last night, took just over 13 hours. Fantastic game and easily in my top 5 of the year so far. It's a shame most of the bosses don't come till near the end of the game and I think the distribution of ammo and health stations was pretty poor it felt like they were just placed at random around the place without though. Loved the extra stuff MercurySteam added and I'd absolutely love to see them do another 2D one, even a remake of Super.

Just completed this 100%. Loved it. Seemed quite easy and I never really felt like I didn't know where I was going, but that's probably just due to the nature of Metroid II being very linear. Thought the graphics weren't going to be great but was happy with them throughout. Loved the extra bosses, and the cutscenes was that the X-parasite at the end?

No bonus for 100% though?

Yeah that was the X Parasite.

You unlock all the Chozo memories for getting 100%.

Anywhere selling this cheap? Might just revisit Fusion and Zero Mission while I wait for payday.

Ended up getting this. Pretty much the game I've been dreaming of since Zero Mission. Controls can be a bit cumbersome but strawberry float it new 2D Metroid 10/10.

On the last boss of this. Enjoying it but a major but is it's the most painful game I've ever played. At times you need to hold both shoulder buttons, aim the circle pad and shoot with the face buttons. Cramp.

Beat it after a break. My thumbs genuinely hurt. I'd love to see this oh switch with the pro controller.

Man it was almost a year ago when you started this.

I don't recall finding the controls painful.

It'd be cool if I had much of a reason to return this game, since I 100%'d pretty easily thanks to the way the game works. I guess I could complete the game on the ultra hard difficulty mode.

The only thing I really didn't like about SR was how useless the beam was in the early game, you had to parry pretty much everything so they wouldn't be bullet sponges.

I actually liked that. One of the few non-Game Boy additions to the remake, and it showed. It was quite annoying, granted; but at least it felt interesting and new, a touch of modernity which was welcome given the general design.

With every word I type I’m aware that I give Pedz another reason to loathe my being. Sorry Pedz. I did like the game though!
