I've been at it all day. Thought the first 2 areas were poor and that samus was made too weak at the start which caused the combat to kill the pacing as the game became stop and go. I also wasn't a fan of the controls but I'm used to them now. Move forward to areas 3,4 & 5 and suddenly it's excellent.

The games biggest flaw is it has a poor early game. In a game like this the early game is one of the most important parts to get right as the power ups will cause the game to open up on its own later on.

I got some hours in but had to stop because it's an ergonomic abomination and my thumb was cramping up. gooseberry fool's good. Can punch a metroid in the face with your gun/10.

Just picked up the Wave Beam and Varia suit before calling it for a bit so I'm going to see what's opened up to me. Can't use my memory as I last played Metroid II back when the GBC was a thing.

I've got every power up, just going to do the item clean up for 100% and then get it done with. It's been a good comeback overall. Just a word of warning, there is one boss that is likely to leave some of you stumped when you get to it.

I shan't rinse the game like that.

I can't play it until I sell legacy ed and buy it again.

Just found out from one of my customers that they've named their newborn baby girl Samus. Thank god it wasn't a boy :dread:

Is there anyway to control Samaus with the traditional d-pad as opposed to the analogue stick?

I need the old fashioned controls and am struggling with the stick.

Could call him Ridley.

Mines didn't turn up yesterday, which is annoying but they did say it might not be there. Hopefully get it today though.

You can't change them. Movement needs to be on the stick because of the analogue aiming when you hold down L

I'm finishing off Zero Mission before starting this, but it's downloaded and ready to go.

I've just got the Screw Attack in ZM, any idea how long I have left ?

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Can't remember how far that is, but ZM is really short compared to other Metroids.

Restarted fusion on gba sp last night. Wow the art is incredibly detailed and it's so fluid. I like how you run by default. It took me way too long to find the run button on super metroid as a result :fp:

Fusion is still my favourite of the series. Love having it on my 3DS.

Fusion is great. Far better than Zero Mission.

I really enjoyed Fusion but I'd rate it below this, Super and Zero Mission. The structure and handholding messed up the pacing, most of the bosses weren't very good and I wasn't a fan of the overall colour pallet they used (I don't like the fusion suit at all). Best thing about it were the stalky bits with the SA-X.

I felt Zero Mission was on par with Super as the best in the series in a lot of ways and does some stuff better, it's just a shame it was so short. It probably has the best controlling character in a 2D game I've ever played, movement just felt sooo good and getting your suit back at the end and just murdering the space pirates with ease was brilliant.

It does look great. A while back I definitely would have been all in for this... but I'm showing restraint nowdays. Kind of.

Finished it.
100% spoilers.
I don't know if he appears if you haven't gotten 100% but this is the hardest Ridley fight in the series and would be a bastard to fight at anything over than full force.

I liked Zero Mission a lot, up until the last section of the game. It felt so out of place, I didn't really like it that much.
