There is one good outcome of that which is you can get the game for stupid prices like £1.50.

I got Metroid: Other M on release day; it co-incided with me leaving a job and getting £40 as a parting gift... which went on the game. Still haven't played it, obvs.

Utter tits that stuff is now routinely hidden behind amiibo instead of being available in game from the off

Especially on a system where a decent chunk of the users don't have the ability to use the damn things even if they did buy them.

I'm not defending the approach but you could use the NFC reader/writer for older 3DS systems if you want to use amiibo, Cheeky. Up until recently you could get them pretty cheaply but it seems like they're about £20 now.

Yeah but nobody really wants to use amiibo, they're an arse, and stuff like harder difficulties should already be in game

So, for the items you get. I hope they're not counted for the score at the end, because otherwise you can't 100% the game without buying extra and that's actually bullshit.

This has really soured me on the game. Luckily the add-ons are superfluous to the actual game (hopefully) so I can ignore it, but the idea is disgusting.

I was ok when it was tied to outfits like in Mario Kart or BotW. Hell, I'd give Epona a pass, too.

But difficulty levels? Sound tests? That's BLATANT cutting of content to sell back later.

This kind of stuff is okay when it gives you unlockables early like the special arwings in star fox zero.
However needing amiibo for extra tanks is going to really upset a lot of people, both casual players and the hard core metroid speed runners who, like the BotW players, are going to have to set up multiple leader boards for both amiibo/non-amiibo runs.

It's next on my Metroid playlist and I paid £3 for it :toot:

Nintendo are silly with this amiibo stuff. If they're going to do this stuff, why not make the content exclusive to amiibos for a set amount of the time then offer the customer DLC at a later date.

Seems ok.. that's basically 7 or 8 out of ten. I'm prepared for this to not actually be that good.

And there's almost no way I can afford the Legacy Edition and amiibos, so if anyone wants to be 1st in line for my pre-order as a contingency, let me know. I'll sell at cost to GR people.

Well this is based on the original Gameboy game isn't it? Which was only a "good but not great" game in the first place.

I don't quite understand the hype for Metroid - and sales wise, the games aren't big hitters either.

I also have the limited edition on pre-order, and might cancel it depending on my financial situation closer to release.

It's not for that reason, merely financial. I'll be sure to get the game, love Metroid and only recently completed Super. Never got on with Metroid II without a map and some colours to help me differentiate one screen from the next, though. Plus the field of view is just too small (adds to the sense of claustrophobia, though).

I certainly don't need a fancy version of the game, but maybe it'll encourage me to boost business - that was the idea!
