Only got 6 metroids left now. Picked up all my movement options, just missing power bombs, I assume, at which point I'll swing around all the zones from top to bottom and clear them out since there are still a few blocks I can't seem to get past.

Overall it's some good gooseberry fool.

I thought you meant 6 squishy metroids for a moment. That would sure cheese some people off. :lol:

(I've seen someone on eBay with 3 of both the amiibo and special ed.. )

Now I need to find the money to get my hands back on the game..

I guarantee you will get bids, and it will end up selling for at least £85 - £110. I just checked the completed listings...you'll be fine.

Also, most videogame-related auctions seem to have all the bidding in the last few seconds...I only ever bid in the last 5 seconds, unless I know I won't be around.

I have 7 watchers at the moment so I'm sure it'll be like that. Never understand it though because in my experience you win more if you bid what you can afford, the whole point of eBay is that it automatically places those last minute bids for you. But people love to generate anxiety for them selves and worry about losing something they can probably get again, or just strawberry float with others. :lol:

It actually automatically bids for you at the last minute if the price is within your bid? I didn't know that, I haven't actually bought anything in a bid on there in years just buy it now.

Yes, that's why it's impossible to beat with "sniping", that only ever works if that bid is actually higher than anyone else's maximum bid :lol:

eBay has always explained clearly how this works but people still waste their time. So if you truly bid the maximum you want to pay then you can just walk away, if someone wants to pay more then tough gooseberry fool that's your budget. But people don't have budgets.

You can bid traditionally like people do to "psych" each other out but you'll never beat the max bid if it is higher. And eBay only increases each higher max bid incrementally so you pay as low as possible. So basically, this is just a waste of time.

I also tend to use buy it now because I can't be arsed. Just walk away from the race, you might pay a few more quid but you're better of focusing on obscure items or badly titled/categorised ones that don't show up in search easily, or ones that end at odd times, etc to get the bargains. And pretty often sellers who can't be arsed with an auction list their items a fair bit cheaper for quick sale. There are different motivations on both sides of the coin.

Man I feel bad selling my stuff but there's hundreds on ebay, there's no way these people legit ordered 2 or 3 or 5+ copies. I do really feel sorry for anyone else.

Has anybody got an estimate of how long the game will take to complete to 100%?

I just checked out your auction to see what this went for, and I am amazed it only went for £74 :cry:

I hadn't noticed earlier that the end time of the auction was 6.45pm on a Friday - that is probably the worst time to an an auction as people are out, commuting etc...and with most people last-second bidding, that's probably what affected it.

Hopefully you've at least broken even, and not made a loss.

My mistake was listening to eBay which says 7pm is the best time to end an auction and so I scheduled it to deliberately start and end later in the day. At the time it was about 1am so...

Thing is though I charged postage for special delivery, so from a buyers perspective it's about £10 less than the current average including postage which is a lot less than it was going for this time last week. I still make about a tenner or so, and wasn't looking to profit from it. So I'll just move on really.

For example, an auction ended the same day starting at £69 and received no bids at all.

The cunty thing at the moment though is people splitting it up and selling the GB styled steelbook alone for £70, box alone for £20, badge for £40, keyring, £20, etc.. Near £200 breaking it up like that. Which I don't want to do because it takes the piss and wrecks the retro aftermarket.

The last 3 bids were just 1 quid on top of each other 30 seconds after the end time

, so yes people were sat there bid sniping, and eBay didn't really help. It's really bad luck that all 3 of the highest bidders had put in really conservative max bids or eBay probably would have automatically had them outbid each other (they'll do this in order to collect the maximum commission). So all the max bids must have been somewhere between £60-£75, bit tight no :lol:

I also had to list it in Videogame Merchandise (I don't believe anyone really uses categories and goes straight to search but it may have had an effect) so I could charge for Special Delivery, because now eBay locks the maximum postage allowed at £3.50 for ANY video game item, wtf? That's not enough for most limited editions with all their tat!

I wasn't using normal postage or paying for it, in case it went missing, so I guess that's the net result. Oh well. I'm glad someone got it for a reasonable price and I don't have to feel like a scalper.

Just beat it 100%. Metroid is still good again. Not good enough to oust Fusion as my top 2D Metroid because when all is said and done it's still a pretty linear game.

Granted so is Fusion, but it's better at hiding it with the back and forth.

Really like the updates to how the metroids fight, too, and the couple new bosses were pretty good. Even the Aeolian abilities worked out better than I expected them to. Especially the scan pulse once you realise that you're just going to be bombing the entire perimeter of every room anyway.

Also that ending.

Samus saving The Baby is still the dumbest, though.

About 12 hours all in, but I backtracked through everything every single time I got anything new which probably added more than it needed. My friend hit 100% with about 11 hours.

I've never seen Samus saving the baby as dumb. It's actually an important part of her character as it humanizes Samus by having her do something that goes directly against her orders, it shows she has empathy. It's what differentiates Samus, the human being with a conscious, to the SA-X, the killing machine that exists to complete its "mission", in Fusion.

Funny, I was considering whether this was a spoiler or not as well.

But then on thinking about it, I think I already knew this, because from memory, it forms part of the intro. to Super Metroid and sets up what happens in that game...

It was a pretty cool twist to Fusion though so I will spoiler it. A lot of people haven't ever completed 2 but the storyline is well consumed anyway because there barely is one.
