PostMetroid Prime Remaster (NSW - Digital Release 8.2.23)
by Barnsy! » Thu Feb 09, 2023 7:06 am

 :toot:

- gorgeous improved graphics
- modern dual stick controls (Goldeneye :capnscotty: :x )
- Dropped the same day as announced
- £35 digital. Physical copy released later in Feb

Downloaded ready for me after work.

Anyone else experiencing this game for the first time? This is indeed my first time playing a 3D Metroid game properly. Maybe they're planning on re-releasing one Prime game a year before Prime 4 drops :shifty:

Excited to get into it this. Lets experience together :D

I never played it properly, despite me buying the Metroid Prime Gamecube pack "back in the day". The only experience of it I have had was at a retro gaming event in Margate about 7 years ago and it seemed very slick and impressive (doubly so given some of the other machines it was next to).

So I might pick this up, but it would probably physical if I do.

I’m holding off for the physical release but I’m excited to play it again  I never actually finished it back on GC, I used to spend a ton of time in Phendrana Drifts so I could listen to the soundtrack

Hope they intend to do the same with MP 2 and 3

Will definitely get the retail one. Looks like a great remaster.

I may or may not have many opinions on this release. :slol:

Up to 4am playing it and planning out my inevitable MP Remastered guide.

Note: It's based off of the Trilogy codebase (as it had the 16:9 mode, achievements, easier difficulty, motion controls already).

Pros so far:
* Dem graphics :datass:
* Some speed tricks still work (not many mind   ).
* It's only Metroid Prime...

Cons so far:
* Bastardised classic controls:  (strawberry floating knobs, morph and jump are the WRONG WAY ROUND DEVS - need to fix that as a profile at OS level now).
* Longer loading screens on initial boot-up.

Looking forward to playing the living gooseberry fool out of it this weekend and 100%ing it again.

Fun Fact: Prime released in PAL territories in March 20-years ago this year.

The environment design/geometry is still leagues ahead of the vast majority of modern games. It looks phenomenal.

Have all the graphics been remade then? Its been so , long since I played it (Wii trilogy version) that this looks like it does in my head

Here's a good comparison vid; the new version looks to be a very nice update.

I had already decided to work through a bit of my backlog, then pick up Hi-Fi Rush. But I'll definitely grab this and make room next payday. I was planning to redo the trilogy for a bit, but kept holding off because of all rumours the Prime Trilogy port one felt realistic. Glad I made that call

Holy gooseberry fool!

The difference did not come across in the Direct last night. That’s pretty much convinced me to buy it.

Spoilt by Game Pass, my reaction to this was: yay MP remaster and it’s available immediately! Wait… gooseberry fool. You’ve got to pay for it.

It honestly kinda annoys me they casually shadow dropped it like it was no big deal when a lot of people have been desperate for it for so long

And it deserves a bigger marketing push! Especially as they've put some decent work into it.

But whatever, not complaining too much. Downloaded it last night, can't wait to play it later.

Hopefully this sells 1-2m so we get remastered versions of 2 and 3 down the line. Also, I reckon we'll get Prime 4 reveal in the summer Direct for a holiday release.

Might crack out my switch for the first time in months.

Sounds like it stands up even if you never played the original?

It has new controls and a new lick of paint graphic wise so that will help but the game design itself was absolutely fantastic and I imagine stands up very well.
