The Lost World was a brilliant book too, gooseberry fools all over the film.

He wrote Rising Sun as well which also got movieised though it wasn't really anything special. I liked his books, I read Jurassic Park and the Lost World ages ago and thought he was a good writer. A real shame the election pretty much buried the news of his ill health.

I heard this last night. Didn't even know he was ill? Another person dies because of cancer.

Very true. Its a shame he is dead, but his books were rubbish, quite frankly.

I really enjoyed Airframe, it really shows why he was a great writer. It should be a really dry story, no dinosaurs, murder etc. just about a company investigating an aircraft malfunction. But it's generally gripping.

I think Jurassic Park and ER will be his legacy though.
