Well for a start, n1 on ignoring my list of new ip's, anyway.

Perfect Dark, Banjo, Katamari and AC6 weren't 'new IP's.
Crackdown, Alan Wake and PGR are still most likely getting sequels.
Games like Mass Effect and Bioshock massively outsell their counterpart versions anyway.

Microsoft actually had a chance to buy Bioware before EA as well.

What a mistake that turned out to be.

Maybe they were going to, but then looked at DA2 and thought

By getting into a bidding war with EA I think they would've ended up paying much more than BioWare are worth, EA paid $860 million for both BioWare and Pandemic. I don't think purchasing studios is the right thing for MS to do either, setting up their own sudios and doing deals with third parties seems to work better for them.

Also, remember this: John Riccitiello was President and Chief Operating Officer at EA until 2004, then set up a private equity firm called Elevation Partners in 2005 serving as Managing Director, bought BioWare and Pandemic, set up a deal to sell them to EA, moved over to EA in 2007 as CEO, closed the BioWare deal

That's a good point Garth, i think a lot of people forget about when they talk about the whole Microsoft should've bought Bioware topic.

I'm looking forward to their conference tomorrow. I'm hoping Microsoft's big announcement is something bigger than the Halo Remake. Personally speaking i think Halo 1 still holds up well today but you can't blame them for wanting to mark the 10th anniversary of the game that put Xbox on the map.

Glad to hear Mass Effect 3 will be demoed at the conference - hopefully nothing too important will be spoiled. Tomorrow's going to be very important for Kinect's future. I think we're finally going to see what Kinect is capable of when it comes to so called "core" games and it's something a lot of people have been waiting to see so hopefully it'll be able to deliver. I think if ME3 does indeed utilise Kinect, it'll be enough to persuade me to finally get Kinect.

Is this the MS conference thread?

I guess it shows hoe lackluster their E3 might be when I find it half way down the page, despite it being on tonight.

I really hope they show a few hardcore new IPs off tonight that don't require the Kinect sensor.

Don't think so. I believe Garth is making it sometime closer to the event.

That Star Wars game didn't seem too bad, Disneyland Adventures looks like yet more shovelware though.
