http://www.trustedreviews.com/video-games/news/2010/01/25/Microsoft-Merges-Zune---Xbox-Teams/p1

The Redmond giant has announced a major reorganisation of its Entertainment and Devices (E&B) unit by moving Zune software/services, Mediaroom IPTV and Media Center to its Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB) which resides inside of E&B and handles Xbox, Games for Windows and Microsoft Game Studios.

If you think that sounds complicated then the official company statement will do little to help:

“As a natural evolution of the Interactive Entertainment Business, our consumer products and experiences focused on games, movies, TV and music will move into IEB, led by SVP Don Mattrick. In addition, we’ve formed a new centralized E&D services infrastructure team, which will act as a combined resource across the division. Finally, Enrique Rodriguez has decided to move on from his leadership position running the TV, video and music business and is evaluating his next career opportunity. The TVM first party business, Zune and Windows Medica Center will move to IEB, and Mediaroom, the TV platform businesss, will become a standalone group within E&D, reporting directly to (E&D) President Robbie Bach."

Other than the fact "evaluating his next career opportunity" sounds rather ominous, this should mean a greater synergy (yes, I hate the word too - but it's apt here) between Microsoft's different platforms. A notable point here is Windows Mobile, which also sits in E&B, and backs up the theory that the (potentially do or die) version 7 will be far more consumer friendly in nature.

Hopefully this means the Zune marketplace will get better than it currently is or that whoever designed the Zune HD is responsible for the rumoured 360 slim.

Apologies if old.

I knew one guy at college who imported one when they first came out. I liked the look of them, looked quite vintage for something so new at the time.

I thought those that had Zunes seemed to like them, or so I heard.

Unfortunately, they'll never beat iPod due to peoples view that Apple = Wonderful, MS = Grey evil shitheads.

If they bothered to release them in the UK i most likely would've got one. A lot of people have had good things to say about them.

Is there any word on Zune HD actually getting a UK release? I'm pretty sure i remember someone here posting that Project Gotham Racing was coming out for Zune HD.

Cheers for that, graphics looks pretty damn good. :)

Do you know if they've released any other games on the level of PGR?

'bout time!!

Zune might finally be launched outside of the US and both divisions might start talking to each other.

I find that seems to be Microsofts main weakness, there are a lot of groups of people doing the same/similar thing within the organisation. See WMP/Zune Player
