PostMicrosoft teasing "Huge" 360 announcement at E3

....that promises to keep the platform "vibrant for years to come".

I'm definitely curious to find out what this announcement might be. Could this news be linked to backwards compatability somehow? Perhaps they'll announce the much rumoured add-on for the One that lets us play 360 games or something? Of course they could just be announcing some new first party titles but I can't see them announcing anything significant that would keep the console "vibrant" for years and with the fact that all their resources seems to be with Xbox One first party stuff.

Microsoft Game Studios exec Phil Spencer has declared that the company will continue to support the Xbox 360 platform for "years to come," despite revealing its long-term next generation plans yesterday with Xbox One.

Speaking to Gamespot, Spencer also claimed that the company has a "huge" Xbox 360 announcement up its sleeve for next month's E3.

"I think the [Xbox 360] is going to be very vibrant for many years. In fact, we have a huge [Xbox 360] announcement for E3 that I keep wanting to talk about, but I can't," Spencer said. "I think it will surprise people. I loved what we did last year with Minecraft; bring Minecraft to the box; six million units later it's kind of a beast. I think there's a lot of life in the [Xbox 360] for years to come."

Any thoughts as to what that 'huge' announcement might be? Meanwhile, Microsoft hardware group general manager Leo Del Castillo recently told OXM that the Xbox One is designed to be more about flexibility and elegance than sheer brute force. Wasnt there a rumour ages ago that the next xbox games will have "forward/backward compatibility" with the 360? So that means that Xbox One games will play on the 360 console too.

When the 360 was released MS dropped the xbox like a stone.

I hope so. I'm still rocking an original Core unit (with HDD attatched) that I've had for 6 years.

Because that would perfectly tie in with Mattrick's earlier comment, wouldn't it?
