I've somehow got Nico as my second best friend despite only choosing to hang out with her once to get a research unlock. Must have got lucky with a gift choice.

Combat grading:

S-tier

Magik
Spider-Man
Captain Marvel
Light powered Hunter

A-tier

Blade
Captain America
Iron-Man

Variable tier

Nico
Ghost Rider

Garbage tier

Doctor Strange

Dr Strange is an excellent support class fighter, if you pick some of his buff cards you can have the likes of Captain America, Blade and Hunter doing upwards of 300 damage per attack. I found Captain Marvel and Spider-Man to be the two weakest. Perfectly usable, but noticeably worse than the rest. Captain America, Hunter(light) and Magik the best.

Spiderman is one of the weakest characters imo.

Finding the game a bit challenging in act II, think I need to do more non story missions and try the limbo battle training again as I haven't managed it with any character yet.

You people are crazy. Spider-Man is ridiculously strong, verging on OP when you mod his cards.

Captain Marvel you need her rarer cards and to focus on going Binary at right time - but she’s superfluous if you have Cap America in my opinion.

My combo was normally Hunter(light), Scarlet Witch (once you develop her cards), Spidey and cap A

Spidey starts off weak but he's fantastic when you start building out his deck.

Also if he doesn't appear in this game, Doom is the ideal antagonist for a MS sequel. But really this is a great foundation for a X-Men game. Socialising in a mansion between going out on missions?

I always feel like any of the characters that seem weak are just down to me not using them enough/properly. I have zero idea how Magik's portal thing works for example. Or Blade's bleed mechanic.

Having serious trouble with the third word of power fight, there just doesn't seem to be enough turns to beat 16 enemies.

Also seem to be having a load more glitches in act II, had wolverine totally disappear below the floor and animations delayed by several seconds throughout certain cutscenes.

IIRC that's the one where enemies split when you damage them? They each have 1/2 the health of the original. You have to make the 16

After posting that I realised I wasn't fully aware of how the 'marked' mechanic works, whereby marked enemies are basically free kills as you retain the 'cost' of playing the cards.

Going to have another bash at it

Yep - combine that with Charlie’s card draw on kill cards for good effect.

Marked can only activate once per attack so don’t aoe 4 marked enemies as you’ll only get 1 card play back

I think marked also works with push/move and environmental attacks but it seemed inconsistent

That third fight is more difficult than the final one. Did the final on my first go.

Back to characters the only one I thought was weak was Nico.

I didn't like some of them (Ghost Rider etc) but they were all strong.

Nice's Roulette ability made her too unpredictable and varied her powers too much for me to be happy with her in my deck.

Both Wolverine and Hulk were pretty crap - but I think that's because all their real power is locked behind rarer/upgraded cards so they just feel crap compared to your current team until you've played them a bit. Which is a pain as you have to play then underpowered to get them strong enough to stand alongside their peers.

Massive spoiler alert, but:

This post buckled me, given the post-credits scene.

I dunno if I've mentioned this in here, but the voice cast in this is absolutely mental. Jason Isaacs is Mephisto!

Thought I recognised the voice. Don't like they replaced Belasco with Mephisto though.

Yeah I get that, but I suppose it's aimed at a more casual audience and they're not gonna know who the hell Belasco is.

Despite the incredible amount of bugs, I think this was my favourite game of 2022. Currently blasting through it a second time trying some different hero strategies out and going for the dark achievement. I don't normally go for the big 1,000 anymore but I feel like this one deserves to be rinsed.

And done. That was tremendous. Rolled straight into NG+ as I've nothing pressing but Monster Hunter hits tomorrow so it'll probably get put to the side. Going dark this time, time to strawberry float gooseberry fool up.

Picked this up for £22 on PC. Working pretty well on my Steam Deck (with Cryobyte33 tweaks) and I'm really enjoying it. However Steam saves don't work (so I can't play between the Steam deck and my PC), and I've had a few bugs, including it unlocking a ton of achievements I didn't earn, including 'Big Game Hunter - Obtain all other Midnight Suns trophies'.

Oh, and I can't believe there's no option to switch off the subtitles!

Really need to get back to this, haven't played it for almost a fortnight and don't really know why I stopped as I was enjoying it so much.
