I can run a Bedrock server if you want, I'll put my world with my city on it as the spawn location and you can get go find a spot in the world to build in. I play in Creative but each player can have their own setting on the same server like so you can be Survival while I'm creativing sort of thing

If anyone wants to play and is on the Windows 10, Android, iOS, Xbox version my server is up and will stay up.

51.68.220.85 port 19132

Give me a PM with your gamertag and I'll whitelist you. Spawn is my city and I'd rather people didn't build in or too near the city if possible without checking with me but otherwise can build wherever, if you mark a route to your town at some point I may build a train line out from the city for travel back and forth.

Java and Bedrock editions of Minecraft will be under one purchase via the unified launcher (if you're on PC Game Pass you are likely familiar with it already).

"Starting June 7, all players that have either Java Edition or Bedrock Edition will receive the edition they do not currently own for free, right in the Minecraft Launcher. So if you own Java, you'll get Bedrock – and vice versa. You don't need to do anything to claim this, but please keep in mind that it might take 2 to 3 days for the game to show up as we roll it out to all eligible players. "

Story time! In the last few months I got back into Minecraft, on my Switch weirdly, but anyway, this time Ive decided to actually try and finish the game, to defeat the Ender Dragon without cheating. Ive killed it before but I always just gave myself a load of swords, armor and potions through the command line and did it that way. This time I wanted to do it right, enchant weapons, upgrade armor, netherite everthing, etc., and I actually managed to do it, and it was easier than I anticipated, turns out enchanted netherite armor and weapons are insanely powerful when done right!

Along the way I ticked off another couple of first, woodland mansion, villager trading hall, xp farm, iron farm and I gotta say it was a fun experience, usually I just mess around, build a huge base and then get bored halfway through building it but actually having a goal and pouring my time and resources into that have really helped me stay engaged with it all. I still have done some cosmetic upgrades to my base and decorated things, like dragon eggs and a dragon head in my bredroom for example but most of the building has been focused on achieving a goal.

I did almost abandon everything over the weekend though, I had an eleytra and I some amazing kit looted from an end city, I had also picked up 2 totems of undying, handy as my looted sword was cursed with vanishing so the only way I would lose it was if I fell into the void. So of course I fell into the void when flying in the End. I recovered however, had a backup set of armor and gear, found a new end city with an eleytra, decided to get a second eleytra then stash it on an ender chest so if I did die then I would at least have a spare I could pick up, exploring the end on foot is a nightmare after all. So I got a second eleytra and on my way to an ender chest I fell and lost everything, in an end city, I was absolutely devastated. It felt like I had lost everything, I had no armor left, no good gear and now no eleytra, I didnt play for a couple of days and considered making a new world. But I decided why not just continue with this one so I dusted myself off and set about regathering the resources to netherite everything again.

I had nearly a full stack of tnt laying around so I headed back to the nether to do some more blasting for ancient debris, when I go to the place I had finished blasting before, there was still loose netherack wating to be gathered, I hadnt been here in weeks, hours of game time, I had crafter netherite armor, defeated the Ender Dragon 4 times, been in and out of the Nether hunting Ghasts, just never over this section as my blast tunnel had gotten quite long. This gave me an idea, my stuff I had "lost" wasnt lost yet, the chunk it was in wasnt loaded so the expiration timer wasnt running, it was stuck in purgatory, until that chunk got loaded at least. Potentially, I could gear up, taking as long as I needed and then make an attempt to reclaim my gear, the problem being it was in an end city I had flown to and where I died was realy high up (I had fallen down one of the end city shafts but it was connecting a high portion to a stupidly high portiob, still I figured it was possiible. The gear would start to timeout until the chunk was loaded and once it was loaded I had 5 minutes (I think) to get to my gear and recover it. I figured it was worth the attempt so I did my blasting, was able to craft some netherite armor but no sword, diamond would have to do there, stuck some enchantments on, loaded up a few stacks of cobblestone and headed off.

I had a good idea where I had died (I play with coordinates turned on), it was through one end gateway and then a few hundred blocks "north" and a few more hundred "west", so I set off as far north as I could on that island and then bridged across the void until I got to another island, kept going until I had to bridge the void again, from this island I had to change direction and then bridge a much larger gap. I was doing it safely but it was still nervewrecking to be looking down into the void and walking backwards, anyway, all that went well, and I was on what should be the right end island and sure enough after a few steps a huuuuuugggeeee end city appeared. Looking at it I found the ship and remembering how I had died, picked the likely spire where it had happened and rather than fighting though the city I just starting to tower up to it, it took almost a full stack of cobblestone but I got to the roof of the bit I aimed for and I saw it, the broken roof block, where I had fallen through so long ago, with a bit more caution this time I broke the walls and was able to get onto the ledge inside, looking down I saw experience orbs! This was a great sign, it meant my gear was probably still there, I descended the tower as quickly as I dared, no Shulkers thankfully so I go to the ground floor and sure enough, there was my gear, eleytras, netherite armor, the loot I had been carrying, all waiting to be picked up.

I did have minor hiccup of a Shulker by the door interrupting my collection party but I got everything back, found an ender chest and got everything stashed before making my way home. I was thrilling to recover my gear, honestly the best gaming experience Ive had this year, gonna keep playing this world for a while yet, still want to explore more of the end, and I want to try tackling an ocean monument, the last in game structure I havent explored properly and who knows what else, mayeb even tackle an ancient city if I feel really brave. Its amazing to me that Ive been playing Minecraft for a decade and this was my first time properly actually playing it with a goal in mind and it has been a real eye opener. I hope they support this game for many years to come, the stuff they have added has really invigorated the experience.

Love Minecraft? Like putting your feet into things? Then these new shoes from Crocs may appeal to you!

I believe those knobbly Minecraft baubles on two of the shoes are removable/adjustable.

Did anyone save the older maps that we had from 2011-2015 on the server? I found an old one on a harddrive with my castle on it. 82 players in the whitelist, so a healthy map of about a gig.

Minecraft is a sandbox construction game created by Markus Persson and is currently in pre release alpha. Minecraft development started around the 10th of May 2009, pre-orders for the full game started being accepted on the 13th of June.

The game involves players creating and destroying various types of blocks in a three dimensional environment. The player takes an avatar that can destroy or create blocks, forming fantastic structures, creations and artwork.

It's €25 and it's bloody brilliant.

Minecraft is a sandbox game. A world, made out of lots of different types of blocks, is dynamically generated for you. The overarching goal is to survive, and to do this you can interact with your environment in an ever-growing number of ways. Explore caves in search for ores to mine, chop down forests, dig land to redirect rivers, combine raw materials in a furance to make special types of block, plant and harvest crops, hunt pigs and sheep, and much more.

If you need tips, hop on mumble at pcsupremacy.co.uk and we'll help you out as best we can.

For how to make tools, check out:
http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Crafting

Mining 101
-Never take anything into an unsecured mine that you would hate losing. Stash your diamonds and precious ores in treasure chests nearby, at the very least.
-Never ever mine the square directly above or beneath you. You might unleash a suffocating column sand or a torrent of lava, or you may plummet into a cave full of monstery death.
-You must use a pick to mine. If you don't, you'll just destroy blocks without getting any stone/ore.
-You must use the appropriate pick to mine certain ores. You need at least a stone pick to mine iron, and at least an iron pick to mine almost everything else.
-Obsidian can only be mined with a diamond pick.
-Lava is extremely dangerous, a single contact with a lava square will usually burn you to death. Carry a bucket of water on you at all times, and quickly douse yourself if you catch fire.
-You neutralize lava by pouring water onto it. This will turn lava springs into obsidian and lava flows into cobblestone.
-Lava will destroy any items that touch it. You can throw unwanted inventory items into lava for this purpose, and be wary of mining blocks directly above lava flows.
-It's very easy to get lost in deep cave complexes. Find a method of marking your trail.
-Bring an excess of wood with you for deep mining excursions, as it's the only material you'll never find naturally in mines.
-Buckets of lava can be dumped into rooms to destroy monsters very effectively, but the lava will also burn away the loot they drop.

How is the Switch version of this? Amazon have it for £19.99 with the Mario Mash Up pack included, is this version still updated with new features like the other console versions?

Yeah it gets all the new features, its Bedrock Edition so it gets updated as often as Bedrock does. It runs ok for the most part, some hitching when things get busy and if you are moving fast (even just in a boat) then chunk loading can be slow, its usually not a problem but if you want a buttery smooth performance you wont get it here. It is perfectly playable though and a solid Minecraft experience.

That’s cool, performance doesn’t usually bother me in games tbh and I much prefer playing stuff handheld these days.

I take it the physical edition is the old version and would need to be updated before playing to this Bedrock version. Presumably all the extra content with the physical edition will be compatible still?

The console editions used to be bespoke ports (Switch Edition, Xbox Edition, Vita Edition etc) but when they were all merged into Bedrock Edition everyone who had a console specific version got the Bedrock Edition for free. So any copy you buy now will be Bedrock edition and can be updated to the latest Minecraft version.

No need to worry, everything on current consoles is Bedrock, they all get the same updates and should be supoorted like that for a good few years yet.

Me again, total Minecraft noob here (Although I did play and loved Dungeons  )

This can be played solo right? What is the actual game loop like? I see all this DLC for Batman, Dungeons and Dragons etc… which seem to feature their own biomes with their own gameplay mechanics?

So it a case you start off in a level, you build stuff for a bit then you can eventually go and explore other biomes? Is this the ‘adventure’ part of it? I assume the base game will have enough content that I also wouldn’t need to buy any DLC packs yet.
