Yeah I envisage that as we build the main castle structure we'll struggle for cobble. Fortunately (and you can't see it in the picture) we've already got a really *really* deep mine at the rear of the castle grounds that should provide most of our cobblestone needs. Just a pain carting it up to the surface

Also helps that we'll be building backing onto a mini-mountain, although we've found that spiders often drop down into the walled area from above which is a pain. Managed to herd quite a lot of cattle into the grounds though which will help for wool and milk etc.

Build a hole to the centre of the earth, you will never run out of cobble again.

Basically make a 5x1 trough, put a bucket of lava at one end and a bucket of water at the other and in the middle cobblestone will be made.

I think that's how it is done anyway. :shifty:

Nope, Obsidian is made when water flows over lava, smooth stone is made when lave is poured over still water and cobble is when lava touches flowing water. As long as the water doesn't cover the lava block and the lava doesn't cover the water source it should be okay.

One thing to be careful of is flow speed of liquids, they kept messing with the flow speeds of lava and water so it can cause issues depending o the version of minecraft.

So that's what I made in the tutorial area! I am guessing that's the stuff you need a diamond tool to dig up and why my stone pick wasn't doing gooseberry fool to it.

I am having a lot of fun just messing around in the tutorial area and have started to mine down into the ground. I was doing quite well and found a load of iron ore (with which I made a iron door which I can't use at the moment as I have no switch -ta for the late heads-up game  ) when on my last visit a freaking zombie came at me from out of nowhere! I absolutely shat 'em and pegged it out of their asap. Will pop back down there tomorrow and this time take my purple fire arrow shooting bow of doom with me.

Played this with oculus rift today, felt properly motion sick when jumping up blocks :dread:

Extremely odd to have a block sat in front of you and see its about 3 foot tall in real space and not a little thing on your screen.

So I have a power cut today whilst playing minecraft....

......EVERYTHING I HAVE CREATED IS GONE!  :x :dread: :| :? :(

I oddly still have everything in my player inventory (including my diamond armour) but the world in which I had created my fabulous castle and all the myriad creations within it (such as my outside bedrock excavation site, complete with glass walkways) has reset to the world as it was when I first spawned.

So many hours upon hours upon strawberry floating COUNTLESS HOURS of work gone.....what the strawberry float do I do?

Image

Luckily my other saves seem to be unaffected (including the co-op one with my friend that I have posted previously in this thread) but my own world, my "attempt1" as I called it.....just gone.

Genuine grief here, strawberry float.

I decided to fire up a hardcore map, no goal in mind, just want to see how long I can survive, I got a little lucky with my initial spawn, it was on a small piece of land jutting out into a bay with sheep and trees on it so it I was able to make a bed immediately to sleep through the night and have plenty of wood to make tools etc with. Im currently fencing areas off and trying to light as much of the area as I can so I will have a large safe area at night. Its interesting being a little less reckless and being afraid of going exploring, in 3 days the only place Ive investigated is the large red sand area across the bay, I havent gone near the heavily wooded area or the tall mountains on the other side.

So far Im really enjoying it, the next challenge will be set up a proper mine, Ill need to get my hands on some ore at some stage.

Preezy, this is probably false hope, but...

Do you have a PS+ sub? Try downloading the last cloud save and see if that gives you back what you lost?

Alas, it didn't work. There was a save from the 25th of September that I'd have been happy to go back to, but when I download it to the PS4 and then load up minecraft the save file is just the same one from yesterday.

Ah well, was worth a shot. Guess I'll have to just rebuild!
