https://minecraft.net/en-us/article/better-together-faqThere are some caveats to getting the upgrade if you've got the Disc version. You need to have played it for more than Five hours or bought some DLC for it to unlock the upgrade.
The rest of them should update automatically from what I've heard.
With regards Realms on console...
Q: How do I purchase a Realms subscription and access the Marketplace on my console?
A: To purchase a Realms subscriptions or Marketplace content, you will need to launch the new Minecraft version of the game on your console – this will not work with Minecraft: Xbox One Edition.
Q: How will the Better Together Update change my experience playing Minecraft?
A: The Better Together Update will bring the latest and most-requested features to more platforms, and give more players the chance to connect in more ways – via Realms, massive multiplayer servers, and cross-platform play.
So once you get the BTU you will be able to access Realms on console. Every version of the game getting the update is being renamed as simply "Minecraft", though you will be able to access the older versions if you wish (Losing the BT updates).
I'll check out my Windows 10 version tonight to see if the update has cropped up yet.
