Quick! To GR!

The story (tiny bit gross): two hours ago I prepared for dinner a nice bit of beef and salad. One mouthful in and something was clearly caught in my oesophagus- this had happened before to me and usually some water will clear it, but this time it hasn't. I can't even swallow saliva, without eventually having to regurgitate it and spit it out.

My chest remains wholly uncomfortable. My housemates must think I'm an utter freak as I left at the beginning of dinner only to return to put my plate in the fridge, and to wash up my pans. :x

I'm supposed to be going out later, too. :( Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think you should keep at it with the water mate. Is your breathing alright? I'd maybe go a walk-in clinic, or A&E maybe.

Who needs A&E when you've got GRcade. But get to a hospital in case you die and suffer the ultimate consequence: being unable to post on the forum.

Yeah, go A&E.

Or have fun choking on your own vomit after you go out tonight.

In related news, a chunk of flapjack went down the windpipe during the week, probably the most uncomfortable feeling ever.

Ask "flapjack" if he can be a bit more considerate in future.

Yeah, it's like when you block the toilet with a massive gooseberry fool. Just keep flushing and pray that the weight of the water causes the blockage to give way before the water spills over the sides.

It hasn't failed yet but if could be disastrous if it did.

But seriously, go to a doctor. At the very least call NHS direct. You might have a hiatus hernia or something.

Quick update for any concerned.interested: Considered the A and E advice, but didn't think it was actually that serious, but checked out where, the nearest one was, y'know, just in case. Managed to settle and sleep, woke up with a slightly tight chest, but so glad to be able to eat and drink again.

I'll pop along to the doctors and get it checked out, to be sure.

Thanks to all those who offered advice! :D

I almost died when some pasta and tuna got lodged in my oesophagus. I couldn't swallow and it was difficult to breathe. I had to leg it upstairs and stick my fingers down my throat to get rid of it.

Lovely.

Who came up with that preposterous hypothesis; did Steve tell you that perchance?
