Other than her eyes I thought the original was much prettier. She looks more masculine now.

Can't quite pinpoint it, but she now looks less Chinese more Pilipino.

First game, as that press release says, was full of promise. I thought it was average at best in the end though, with some real flaws. Interested to see what this one's like.

Yep. Definitely looks different in the promo art, Philippino or Thai.

I hope that's just unrepresentative cover art and not Faith's new model - old one was more striking.

You never even saw her in the first one from what I remember :? apart from some anime scenes.

New look is better anyway.

Cut scenes and box art.

Is there anything stopping them from making this third person. The last game, as with a lot of first person games made me nauseous.

I think the game relies far too heavily on the feeling of momentum, and feeding that back to the player through the first person perspective, to work in third person. When you land into a roll and the whole camera spins, that is disorientating, but deliberately so. You'd lose a lot from the gameplay, and the immersion, by detaching the camera from Faith.

And this is coming from someone who played Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3 and New Vegas in third person because I found it much more immersive and generally better.

I also hope that there aren't a load of cutscenes taking you out of the action. Tell the story through the levels themselves - the original had those comic-like cutscenes, but still managed most of the plot during gameplay, and I really liked that. Mirror's Edge's world building was a lot better than the actual story because of this (similar to Dishonoured).

Wasn't the whole first-person-free-running thing literally the game's entire gimmick?

Disappointed that they're "rebooting" it and sticking with Faith (and the 2006-era Apple world, by the look of the concept art) rather than trying to come up with a slightly more interesting story/set of characters. The original was hella dull.

I'll still play it because the first-person platformer concept was brill, but I'm not holding out much hope for the story. Have they mentioned if they've got Rihanna "I don't just get jobs because of my surname" Pratchett back for it?

EDIT: Just noticed I've posted almost the same thing on the first page :slol:

Agreed. She's more than a bit rubbish.

I don't like the new Faith. :(

I loved Mirror's Edge, but my worry ever since this new one was announced, was that they'd try and make it more appealing to the mass market by forcing more gunplay into it. Was quite surprised to see that they're actually removing it entirely!

Now really getting excited!
