PostMissing Megan - A moral Dilemma *Bird back in Blighty*

You've all seen this on the news. Some 30 year old bloke has done a runner with a 15 year old at the school he was a teacher at. Weeks before he tweeted about "being in a moral dilemma".

The parents of 15-year-old Megan Stammers have made an emotional appeal for her to get in contact with them, after she caught a ferry to the continent last week with 30-year-old Jeremy Forrest. It has now emerged that concerns were expressed to another teacher about their relationship, following a school trip to Los Angeles in February.
A friend from Bishop Bell Church of England School in Eastbourne, East Sussex, said that another classmate had raised the issue after seeing the pair holding hands together on the return flight.
The 15-year-old friend told the Daily Mail: "They would always text each other. He would send her messages saying things like 'I miss you' and 'I can't wait to hug you'. We are really angry the school did not do enough to protect Megan. And now no one knows where she is or if she's coming back.
"I don't know how it all started with Mr Forrest but to begin with she was really excited about it. She would tweet about being in love and show us his texts. But after it was reported she stopped and then deleted her Twitter account. She never spoke about it after that and she didn't tell any of us that she was leaving. She probably knew we would stop her."
An East Sussex County Council spokesman said: "Because the investigations are ongoing we are not going to comment in detail, however the school and the county council had been addressing and investigating concerns that had been raised, in line with procedure, when this happened. That investigation will continue and we will decide what action to take."
A senior police officer has also disclosed that a message was sent to one of Megan's friends, saying that she was in France, but did not come from her phone.
Megan's disappearance came last Thursday when she asked her mother whether she could stay overnight at a friend's house. Her mother said that she agreed, gave her dinner money for school the following day - and Megan left. But the following morning her mother received a text message from her school, where Forrest teaches, saying she had failed to attend class.
Her family said that Megan had been receiving extra-curricular maths lessons since before the summer. But they did not suspect any relationship between her and Forrest, a married amateur musician, who lives in Ringmer, near Lewes.
Megan's father, Martin Stammers, said he was "aware" of Mr Forrest but refused to go into further detail, saying: "It's about Megan and getting Megan back."

As the legal age of consent in France is 15, can he actually be done in the UK if he's had sex with her?

What did they expect to happen? Run away and not have the parents appearing on national news?

I also like how the blame is being shifted to the school, despite it appearing as though the mother didnt check with the place she was supposed to be staying.

This whole thing is strawberry floated. As a male teacher, if you can't handle getting flirted at by 15-year-old girls then you need to switch careers. Urgently. strawberry floating loser.

(Though the implication in that article that perhaps the parents had an inkling about what was going on is obviously a bit on the weird side.)

There are whisperings that it was quite a well-known rumour within the school. There's more to this story to come, I feel.

One thing i'm wondering is, if they're as loved up as we all assume, why couldn't the dude just wait until she left school at the very least before doing this? What's she going to do about her GCSE's? What's he going to do for work, can he really get a job over there when his face and name is plastered all over the media about how he's the guy that ran off with a 15 year old girl (no doubt British Police will be raising awareness of the situation in France)? Hell what is she going to do if or when things turn sour and they split up? I can't see him just dropping her off back at home saying "Ah sorry things didn't work out, see ya later".

For it to come to the point that they're running away together it makes you wonder how long they've been 'together'. Some reports have suggest there's been talks and theories about those two being involved for at least 6 months or so. I really can't see how this dude can recover from this - his professional career is obviously over for a start.

Guy's a dick. Should never abuse his position as a teacher.

Well this bloke obviously isn't the sharpest knife in the draw.

Unless it's the other way around and the teacher looks like this...

It shocks me that someone apparently smart enough to be a teacher would try some gooseberry fool like this. Hopefully he's smart enough for France just to be a diversion. He'll probably be elsewhere by now.

What a ledge.

Totally agree. What I really don't get is what the hell they have to talk about.

The last time I mixed with girls even vaguely that age was when I was sprinting - I was about 28, they were generally 16/17 - and even then, I didn't have a clue. I mean, you could make smalltalk, but they just kept banging on about driving lessons and which clubs they could get served in. Don't get me wrong, they were all hot, but they bored me to tears.

30-odd to 15 is a ridiculous gap and I can only assume he is seriously emotionally stunted. Utter gimp.

But that would be you as the younger boy and the issue would be with her and not you.

The argument you are looking for is if you were the teacher

I can see the moral dilemma. On one hand its's wrong to screw a fifteen year old girl. On other hand he really, really wants to. Philosophers would struggle with such a complex decision.
