I don't think it actually got "shat on" in reviews, did it?

Either way it's a fun game. Terrible story/acting with fun combat scene spaced out by pretty bad "rescue" bits, as I recall.

Well worth the couple of quid it'll cost you these days. Speaking of which, how does it look in Dolphin these days?

I enjoy a lot of sub-par games. Like any medium games can have pros and cons. Beinga positive chap a game with many cons can win me over with a single pro.

I enjoyed Turok Evolution (on Gamecube)... it was uninspired and brown but dat Pistol which flipped out into the Sniper Rifle

Actually, in the same vein, Other M.

Brilliant game that got dismissed because of its awful story and acting and the fact it wasn't Prime, despite being better in several areas.

I respectfully disagree. On it's own merits Other M is a rubbish game and the fact that Metroid Prime exists only serves to throw into sharp relief it's many many failings.

Only when I got older did I realise the SNES gun was disrespected. I used to enjoy these games, so fudge the haters.

I dont think the super scope was hated. But as light guns go I think it's fair to say the one and only Light Bazooka was a bit clumsy and something of a battery hog.

But it's unique, which counts for something.

Also, its great in Smash Brothers :D

Logically it's all age dependant.
When I was a nipper and my Dad went to some serious effort to import Super Hunchback on the GameBoy for my 9th birthday... I played it and loved it. Yes after the first stage it got strawberry floating hard strawberry floating quick and I never really progressed. Now XX decades on I realise it was a crap to average game - like most games pros and cons exist... pros and cons. But back when we were kids the cons were easily ignored as being "part of the game". Now we dismiss anything that looks unrealistic or behaves without logic as something negative.
Imagine if you were a kid now. Imagine you are 12 and played Alien Trilogy on PSone... awesome right? on Tuesday you, the very same 12 year old will play Colonial Marines. Will it be gooseberry fool? Or will it be the same gooseberry fool we just got on with enjoyed for what it was decades ago?

Yes it will be gooseberry fool. Because I'm twelve and play COD or BF3, everything else is gooseberry fool by default. And I doubt many of them have even seen Aliens.

I have to agree about Other M. There is a good game under there, it's just that the plot is so terrible, a lot of people liked to pretend it never existed.

My copy of Disaster is absolutely borked. Sad.
