*checks phone*

Alto's Adventure is a very pretty endless runner.

Badland (not to be confused with crashlands) is great value, has about a bajillion levels like. It's all about helping these little critters escape getting pulverised. Has the gameplay of a runner (but its not endless) and I think it even has a level editor? It's pretty rad.

Clash Royale is an addictive tower offence game, just don't be tempted to give it any money.

Desert Golfing. Ronseal. Simple but will make you want to throw your device at the wall by hole 80 or so.

Leo's Fortune is a rad old school platformer that has really decent touch controls.

Ridiculous Fishing is a fishing game with cartoonish graphics that uses your devices sensors to cast your rod. Fun.

Scribblenauts I think is best suited to mobile out of any of the platforms it's on.

Also worth noting Sonic 1, 2 and CD have fab ports (not emulation) that fill the screen without distorting aspect ratio.

The number and range of games available means there's almost certainly something you'll love out there...finding it amid the piles of dross is another matter.

It's now £2.29 on the App Store.

Jawa, you might like to try Oceanhorn. It's basically a Zelda knock-off, but although it's far from perfect I think it's not a bad effort at all at a full adventure game on a phone/tablet. Well worth a go, anyway.

I'd also recommend Civilisation Revolution, too. It's ace.

I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.

Thanks, Finish - funnily enough I looked at that last evening and it does appear pretty cool. I'll go and take a closer peek.

I was checking out the strategy games as I really enjoyed Anno 1701 on the DS (it was terrific!). I'll look at Civ Rev... thanks, man.

Everyone probably already knows this, but... again, I gotta say how great Hitman Go is! Deceptively simple and surprisingly fun - I love it!

If you like Anno and Civ Rev, you should really check out the demo of Civ V on Steam.

Thanks, man, but I don't have a PC. I do have access to an iMac but I never play games on it. It's console (and mobile, now) gaming for me :toot: .

Nothing against PC gaming - I used to play on a PC between 2002 and 2005 - it was cool and I'm not dissing it :) .

It works on Macs so you should give it a go on your iMac. It's free to make a Steam account and get the demo. You've got nothing to lose*...

*Except your life when you become horribly addicted to it :toot:

Been considering starting a new game of Civ 5 for a little while...only problem is that I know once I start it'll eat at least a week of my gaming time.

Hey Jawa nice to have a new mobile thread.

Here are some of my favourite iPad games in no specific order:

Space invaders infinity gene
Downwell
Retro city rampage
Xenowerk
Air attack 2
Horizon Chase
Monument Valley
Jetpack joyride
Alto
Beneath a steel sky

So anyway, you'll be able to play Hyper Sentinel when it hits the store :). Yeah yeah, I know it's been ages since I updated with info, but that's how it has to be at the moment. The game dev has ramped up this year so...expect some fun times soon..... ;)

Two of my favourite games on mobile have been Hitman Go and Lara Croft Go. Square-Enix is now building on the success of those titles with Deus Ex Go being announced! It'll arrive "later this year".

I stumbled across the fact that Montezuma's Revenge, one of my all-time favourite platformers, is available on mobile :toot: . I paid out the modest iOS fee of £1.49 and got ready to re-live the action...

I should have known better. The game offers multiple control arrangements options but none of them are sufficient to comfortably allow for the fast, pixel-perfect movement that is required. It's a shame as the actual game conversion seems very good... but I can't imagine spending time trying to wrestle with the controls.

In my first few months of mobile gaming I've quickly learnt that touchscreen joypad-type controls hardly ever feel satisfactory. If you have time to think, or you're just tapping something, then they're fine... but otherwise it all seems a tad frustrating.

I've purchased Bangers Unlimited 2 on iPhone. It features official banger cars and tracks (lacking Arena Essex though unfortunately). It's a bit rubbish...and yet I can't stop playing it. It's like the game I've always dreamed of existing...kind of. Car handling is surprisingly excellent however. It's the damage physics that are letting it down. Graphics are in line with the PSP.

Deus Ex Go will launch next Thursday, 18 August, on iOS and Android :toot: . It looks like it's building on the Hitman and Lara 'Go' styles - which is a good thing - and, post launch, a puzzle construction feature will be added.

Has anyone played Rusty Lake's Cube Escape series? There's about 6 free apps, each of which is essentially a virtual Escape Room. Short and sweet and quite addictive.

Also, really strawberry floating disturbing. Like, nightmare inducing.

Skool Daze is being remade for mobile formats :o .

I played this on my C64 back in 1985 :toot: .

EDIT:

I dunno, though... I'm starting to think that I'm not so keen on everything being hires nowdays. Perhaps it's nostalgia, but I feel the original had a bit more charm:
