:fp:

It means you can import things without worrying about customs charging you extra, PS3 games, DS games, Blu-ray boxsets, limited edition Godzilla models etc

And with the strength of the pound there has never been a better time to... whoops

Aye, I realise it's good news for that, just I don't tend to import anything much. Though I may start doing so now, finally get some more games for my Wii (which is American).

I was searching for some solid proof, but I can only find information that says the limit in Germany is going up from €45 to €150

I do remember reading about this a few months back, it's great news, just in time for Secret Santa.

While the Customs charge has gone you can still be charged for VAT and Excise duties, I have no idea what that all means it practice though about how likely your goods are to be checked:

Godzilla's Link wrote:We have identified several blogs/internet forums where these changes have been welcomed but widely misunderstood.

It appears people incorrectly believe that from 1 December 2008 goods with a value less than €150 (£105) imported from outside the EU will be admitted without any import charges being levied, but the Regulation applies only to Customs duty.

Import VAT and Excise duties (where applicable) will still apply at the current rate.

Because of this misconception, on some websites people are being wrongly advised to start their ‘Christmas internet shopping’ for goods imported from outside the EU, after the introduction of the increased duty limit on 1 December 2008. This last minute rush (when import VAT and if appropriate excise duty will still be charged) is obviously something both HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and Royal Mail want to try and avoid.

FOR strawberry float'S SAKE

If I went and imported my cymbals now and not two months ago I would've saved myself £50.
