Fade wrote:I'm glad none of you use the charge blade, that weapon has almost no downsides, oh you wanna tank, have good mobility and high damage? Sure why not. Oh yeah, and you can use it to stun monsters as well.

Charge Blade's downsides are its extremely convoluted movelist, the amount of micromanagement you need to actually use the thing (keeping your sword charged, reloading every so often to stop yourself from bouncing on literally everything) and the awkward positioning that you need to learn in order to consistently place Super Amped Discharges.

Also is it just me or has the rate of stun in this game been amped up to hell and back? It feels like I passively have Thunderblight in every single hunt.

And yeah, I'm also disappointed by the lack of colour and flashy/gimmicky weapon designs. Feels like the soul of Monster Hunter has been sucked out. I still love the game, but it just pales in comparison to 4U for me. It's still on par with 3U, all things considered, however.

4U had a great variety of monsters. Insectoids, serpents, bears etc compared to this. Hope they bring some of them back. I know Deviljho is coming soon but that's yet another bipedal wyvern type.

Getting the hang of the switch axe now. Using one called Dying Light. Made a great amour set using mostly Spikey the elder dragon. I didn't know you could change the colours..... I'm now rocking a dark armour with tons of pink spikes and my cat is equally fabulous.

Rumor is devil Jo comes out in March, I'd like new creatures too. But I'm happy to keep chipping away trying to find more stuff.

Personally I think what makes up for the less interesting wep and armour designs are the locations in this game. Monster Hunter has always had amazing locations, but now being on a current gen system it just looks stunning at times. Really well thought out and believable. I really hope we get older maps remastered in this engine as future DLC or something.

Blowing up the dam is so well done in the great forest, it's such a clever little touch but makes it feel like a movie.

Why did I go into the obvious poison place and not expect multiple layers of bullshit?

Eh, if you mean the Rotten Vale it's not too bad.

I'd take it a million times over the strawberry floating Night Swamp from Gen 1.

I've been trying out the Katana but it's way slower than I expected it to be, and half the time I'm thrusting forward while the monster is to the side of or behind me.

I might try switching to the dual blades instead.

When you get to HR it sometimes randomly doesn't drop you off at camp at the start of a quest.

That's how High Rank's always been, was wondering if they would keep it that way. Does anyone know if this means secret areas are back too?

That's a shame if there are no secret areas. Considering the nature of World, they could have been amazing.

strawberry float kirin, it's a garbage monster that never should have left gen 2, let alone gen 4

DOUBLE strawberry float tempered kirin

Worst fight in the series for me. Awful.

I just hit High Rank. The Zorah fight was rather disappointing. Slowly trailing behind, but enjoying taking my time >,> Looking forward to the more challenging hunts. All this Kirin talk is only getting me more hyped tho.

+1 Kirin is a bad fight

Only one breakable part makes the fight boring as you never switch up what you're targeting (just hit the head, always) and he's just small and annoyingly quick to shoot.

Small monsters like that feel really out of place in the series. It's the only one I had to go out of my way to change my gear set up for.

It's weird because Kulu is also small yet I really like him because he's a dumb egg loving dodo.

I like Kirin's concept, I just don't enjoy the actual fight. If I were to redesign Kirin I'd make it like pre-world Kelbi where you hit it a few times to get a chance to carve, and then it runs away. Have it appear randomly and rarely during other quests, like always in a thunderstorm or something.

It'd be much cooler and mysterious that way.
