Be thankful you're now playing a game with visible damage numbers and attack stats that are actually comparable between weapons!

So I need to have a Fire Attack skill to make use of my fire sword? And I can't, say, have a fire attack gauntlet and use a water sword for a mix of damage types? Or do I need Free Element even if it's not greyed out?

I don't understand what this means for my weapons right now.

Edit: wait, I misread it, I think I get it. Never mind. It's still pretty dumb.

Fade wrote:So by the sounds of it elemental weapons really aren't worth the hassle right now then?

Sounds like you have to make a build focused on one particular element and then fight a monster with that weakness, and then hit it's crit spots all the time otherwise you may as well just be using raw damage.

I still really don't understand how elemental damage works, and I really don't understand why they make the damage system so confusing.

Eh. Elemental weapons are still worth it - Sword and Shield, Dual Swords and Light Bowgun live and die by elemental damage, and it's pretty important for more or less everything except Greatsword, Hammer and maybe Charge Blade. Element Attack Up is just really stupid and obtuse now because World introduced a hard cap on element damage for some incomprehensible reason.

And to be honest, I'm really not a fan of the damage numbers - the only reason I use them is because they took out the blood effects when hitting weak points for some reason, so now the immersion-breaking damage numbers are the ONLY visual feedback in the game. It's one of the many little things that, to me, makes World a generally weaker experience than past games.

In case anyone doesn't know. The event which has you battle 3 monsters in the arena is an amazing way to get money and decorations.

Equip something that hits wide. Like the long sword or switch axe, equip the bandit mantle and batter the first two monsters. Kill them both and collect all drops. Kill the last one and repeat. Make a fortune and some good decorations too.

I think I gathered as much, which is why I'm trying to make specific builds for element damage now. Plan to get the Lavasioth set next. Farming for armour is just a breeze now so there really is no excuse to not experiment with more stuff. Just the deco farming I hear is the annoying part of this game >,>

The non-shit decoration and streamstone farming is pretty tedious the drop rate is awful.

I really want to make the ice hammer because it looks sick as hell but it's probably not worth it is it?

Honestly, dude, just make whatever you like. Sure, high raw and high sharpness hammers will always be better than high element/lower raw hammers, but looking cool and having fun still takes priority. Going all-in on max DPS or whatever is a really boring way to play. Hell, I made a Bow set based around doing nothing but melee attacks because it's totally ridiculous and inefficient but my friends and I have a lot of fun with it.

I think the highest HR they've had so far for the themed rewards is 6?

That's reassuring then. The trailer showed what I'm guessing is a new gesture which I'm sure will be stupidly overpriced like the Ruy ones.

Good to see the support via free dlc. Though to be honest I'd buy a season pass or three in a heart beat for this.

I'm currently trying to get the right decorations for my build and I'm struggling. The drops I get are normally gooseberry fool and ritual to get new ones is also not getting me anything I want. Is there a trick to this or just grind forever?

I'm currently using switch axe for fun and easier solo missions and the bow for groups and harder enemies.

Need one gem for my final upgrade to my agility charm. But I'll get that in a few days from the next limited time investigations.

Hopefully DevilJo means some more interesting builds and skills.

This was more than I expected >,> Weapon buffs is the last thing I imagined we'd ever get. So much to look forward to! I'm also trying to refrain from watching too much of Jho before I hunt it since it's been forever since the last time I fought one. Can't wait.

I'm just glad I can change my character's gender. I usually pick male/female based on how the sets look, but since this was a worldwide release, I decided via coinflip instead. Ended up with female in the game that has by far the worst female armour sets in the series.

Sucks that I can't change my name since I'll now be a big buff hunter man called Erin, but it's a small price to pay to not look like gooseberry fool.

I spent almost 3 hours creating my son, so I think I'm good on that front lol. But it's still really cool that they heard a lot of the concerns. The whole situation with carve interrupt trolls sounded super lame so I'm glad they were quick to address it.
