I'm not convinced by this to be honest. It's not really a looker at all and I'm playing on Graphics mode on the X1X. They've fixed the online on Xbox though via a small patch and I hunted a monster with 2 others who seemed to be noobs. I can just about see the 'hook' but it hasn't grabbed me just yet. I'm playing with my mate tonight so ill get a good couple of hours in and maybe then ill see what the fuss is about.

The Xbox version must look absolutely terrible if you think it doesn't look good.

Sucks this doesn't have a photo mode because it badly needs one.

The Xbox One X version is on par or better than the PS4 Pro one. I'm still in the first area, I just don't like the saturated lighting and pop in.

Im playing on a standard PS4 and to my eyes its way too overexposed and washed out colour wise, and the framerate (especially in the camp) is extremely choppy.

Framerate is ok on X1X but yeah that’s what I mean by saturated lighting, everything is washed out, has no depth and lacks detail. Night time is almost worse.

The visuals are great not for the graphical fidelity and technical mastery but for the visual and environmental design. I think it's a lovely looking game, especially when you get to the Coral Highlands (third map). I also really appreciate the integration between creatures and the environment, the world genuinely feels alive - especially with the endemic life that is now a thing.

I might avoid the ranged weapons then, I prefer weapons that have more of an eb and flow

Is there a point where you are able to take more than one weapon with you? I'd love to have the bagpipes as my secondary

You can only carry one weapon at a time but you can go back to the tent at a camp to change any of your equipment during a quest.

Oh, well guess I'll just be sticking with the switch axe then. Maybe pull out the pipes for co-op

Yeah the only time I've ever used them is when playing with 2 or 3 other people. That's when they're at their best because of the buffs.

No, but you can change equipment mid-quest by returning to a camp and entering the tent, which is new to World

The hunting horn is best in full teams as a support so you can make optimal use of the buffs. The good thing is that you can get a horn for your palico so he can buff you in single player (and in 2 player where you both still get your palicos).

I am exclusively a gunner and have been almost exclusively since the PSP days, the game just clicks with me way more. I think it's definitely worth trying out the different weapons to find the one that works for you as the experience can be so different.

I did try them all out in training mode, and a few in against monsters, but I still enjoyed the switch axe the most

I'd like to use the bow but it seems more complex than is worth the hassle.

Kinda getting into it now, the weather effects are pretty good. Online seems a bit skittish sometimes working sometimes not but that could be just Xbox.

That's the problem with console exclusive betas. Xbox odes seems to be a bit intermittent right now.

I'm playing it on PS4 and I think it looks great, personally.

Picked this game up a couple of days ago. Am I the only person in the universe to use the Hunting Horn when hunting on my own? Or are there more of my kind out there? The lure of a didgeridoo was too much for me.

Just under 70 hours played so far :dread:

Finished the single player campaign yesterday and it's still chucking new stuff at me.
