Evolution Studios' thank you message to Motorstorm Mondays

Hi there,

My name is Matt Southern, I'm a Game Director at Evolution Studios currently finishing MotorStorm Apocalypse.

I hope you don't mind this PM but on behalf of the development team we wanted you and the rest of the 'MotorStorm Monday' guys to know we've all loved what you do. The last video you posted made us feel slightly sad that you were wrapping things up but also very nostalgic

By way of thanks I've arranged to send over 20 codes for free 12 month subscriptions to 'PlayStation Plus'.

I won't receive the codes for 5 days but if you drop me a mail I can arrange to mail them back to you over the holidays or when I return to the office on January 3rd. Then you can distribute them.

Looks decent I suppose. I was slightly interested in the original but I have not bought it yet.

Yeah I will be buying the game, its fun just to have the odd 20 minutes here and there having a few races, plus the tracks look even better this time round. I just hope they fix the difficulty level, I am still finding the original way too hard.

No. Did not like the first one and this looks to be more of the same but with some greenery. Controverisal but I do prefer Pure thatn this but I have OD on racing games for a while so none of them will be bought for quite some time.

Both!

I seem to crash too much and getting to the front and staying there is tough after the first few challenges, I guess I have not studied the courses enough, its not a game I like to spend hours on, that accolade goes to Fifa 09 now! 8-)

Well, I predict that the new version will be pretty much the same.

The AI is rubberband, so you really don't need to boost that often no matter what difficulty you're on. The only get more aggressive.

As for boost-crashing, Time-trials really improve this and this again goes hand in hand with the rubberband AI (i.e. you don't need to use it that often)

1st 1 came with my 60gb PS3 and was rather naff (the game that is), won't be joining any ques to get this one.

I loved the first game, and it is still my most played Ps3 game, but I'll want to see that most of the major problems have been ironed out.

Decent options and race variations from the get-go please. Also, tone down the difficulty so that it is a little more forgiving. A decent number of tracks and offline split-screen would also be welcome.

Do all this and I'll be picking it up.

I'll be getting this on day one - I might spash out and get the edition with the free t-shirt from play.com and be the envy of all of my friends.
The single player needs a bit of work, but the online was pretty damn nifty. I like the fact that the tracks appear more open than ever, which was certainly evident from the demo. Moving the locale was also wise, and really looks the part. I'm sure the whole thing has had a speed injection too, which was another gripe of some.
I hope Evolution have gotten the online side of things sorted out. Split-screen is no longer a compromise, in my eyes. In fact, it's probably more of a technical challenge having the 4 screen split than what it would take to have a decent online experience, surely?
To tie into the topic, with the numerous advances the PSN has seen since the 1st games release, I fully expect to see a plethora of improvements. Some blummin' voice chat for a start.

I whole-heartedly agree with this statement.

Anyway, I'll be buying the game so long as the reviews are generally good. Wasn't a massive fan of the Beta though, so I'm going to need some convincing.

Sony are releasing this and Resistance, surprisingly, just before the late Christmas rush - IMO they're doing well to be releasing this game this year anyway - No one gave Evo a chance back in February.
